I am staying CL for 3 nights each at AKL,WL, and POLY. I have a few questions. First how early can you check in? I thought when I stayed AKL a few years ago I waited for the normal checkin time and they told me I was the last CL guest to arrive and they had been waiting for me. I just can't remember how early I can check in. I am also wondering if I should wait till 6 monthes out for IPO to contact me or should I send them an email sooner. I am somebody who likes to make their own ADR'S but I would like to make some room requests if they will let me do that. I am also wondering if they have the ability to get me an outside table to see Illuminations at R& C or get better seats for Cirq du Soleil or if it would just be the same as calling myself. Also I was wondering if they would stock my fridge with a couple of bottles of water. I love water and it would be great if I could have cold bottles in my fridge. Also if anyone has stayed at AKL CL recently,I am wondering if they have desserts from Boma again last time I went the dessert weren't that impressive but they did get another guest and myself some zebra domes(yummy) after we requested them.
Thanks!!!!!!:)

We stayed at the Contemporary CR last Christmas and I e-mailed them well before the 6 months to introduce myself and gave them a list of the ADR's I wanted them to get so if you did that you could still make some of them yourself. My DD was sick when we were there so we asked for water for her to drink during the night and they gave us a couple of the large Evian bottles they have. I am sure they'd do the same if you asked.

Staff arrives on duty at 7am. If you arrive before 3pm though, there's a very good chance your room will not be ready. They'll still store your luggage though and pre-check you in. You're free to go off to the parks, or stay around the resort and enjoy the pool and the club level lounge.

If you don't need them to make reservations of any kind, then I would just touch base with them whenever. There's never a guarantee that they'll contact you first though. Whenever you have a request, just drop them an e-mail and they'll simply note it in their system.

I am also wondering if they have the ability to get me an outside table to see Illuminations at R& C or get better seats for Cirq du Soleil or if it would just be the same as calling myself.
No difference with them making the arrangments or with you making them yourself. Better tables or better seats are not set aside for club level guests.

They have the large glass bottles in the lounge and they typically will give you a few to bring back to your room. You can also ask them about the small plastic bottles available through room service. There may be a charge attached to those bottles though.

Evertime my family have stayed at the Atrium Club we have always checked in before 3:00 PM, expect for last December when our room was not ready until about 4:40 PM and this was when we had arrived to the Contemporary just before 4:00 PM, which was after the 3:00 PM check in time. (The Cast Member who checked my family in 1st said our room was not ready because it was being cleaned, which was a lie because I walked down the hall on the Bay Lake side because that was where our room was suppost to be and did not see a housekeeping cart. Then we were told the room was being worked on by maintenance but I never saw maintenance workers come out of the rooms. I personally think if we had a Cast Member checking us in who remembered my family from our previous stays we would have got our room a lot faster.) Anyway when you get there you maybe lucky and get your room right away or will have to wait a while.

The published check-in time represents the latest time that your room would be ready (though, if a problem arises, it can be later). That's the resort's way of saying that you may not have access to your room until 3PM.

You can go to the front desk and get your keys, documents, tickets, etc., at any time after 7 AM. If a room isn't cleaned and ready for you, they'll give you a card with a number to call to find out if your room is available, so you can go on your way and visit a park, go to a restaurant, hang out at the pool, etc.

75-80% of the time our room has been ready. I've checked in at all sorts of times including morning, noon, evening and late night. Of course evening and late night check-ins pose as no problem at all.

I usually let them know when I think I will be arriving and if I'm transferring from another resort. I don't know if it helps or not at all, but it's just something I do. I know my park touring style so I can do a good estimate.

I use concierge for the pre-planning. I didn't find any problems with doing it myself on my last trip, but I did miss just quietly sending an e-mail while sipping my morning coffee. They'll send you updated itineraries after each change. ;)

Are you going to do safari at AKL? :teeth:

Thanks for the great info. I am doing the sunrise safari.I did it in 2005 and really enjoyed it so I am doing it again.I will be staying offsite before I checkin at AKL so I can really arrive anytime I arrange transportation. The last time I stayed there I waited until normal checkin time and I was told I was the last one to arrive. If my room isn't ready I can enjoy the CL.
Thanks again!!!!

We loved Sunrise Safari, too! You should also check out Sunset Safari, too. :rolleyes1 Just in case you're looking for something a little different.

Man, I'm so homesick! Does anyone have some spare luggage space?

Thanks for the great responses. I did actually do the Sunset Safari.I really did enjoy it but I do travel alone so it isn't as enjoyable when you don't know anybody.I must admit I did bond with the 2 couples I was on the safari with. I even ended up doing the sunrise safari with one couple the next day.I The meal is also served family style. I have a small appetite and I really look forward to my leftovers. When I compare the cost of the safari and think I can enjoy 2 meals at Jiko for the money and don't think it is really worth the extra money.I really appreciate the recommendation though and am sorry you are so homesick!!!! If I had a spare suitcase space I would offer to you. Unfortunately I have been known to come close to the weight limits on my baggage.
:rotfl:
Thanks again!!!!!
