It's my hubbies 50th b-day and our anniversary on our next trip. We're thinking of splurging for a conierge level room. Are they worth it for two adults? Does the investment make your trip better? Are the rooms different then the standard rooms?

Has anyone stayed at the Wilderness Lodge concierge level? I would like to hear about other resorts as well.

I would also love to hear about any other thoughts on how to make our trip special - and especially his birthday special.

Thanks:flower3:

to me, yes it is worth it. we stayed the the bc cl this past jan and it was GREAT! you get a secret elevator key that only accesses the cl floor. plus you have services desk that will help you with any questions and any ressies you wish to make. we just went up and asked to see if flying fish had a five o'clock and she typed it in her computer and said "you are all set for the flying fish at five." they are usually very nice and we really enjoyed chatting with them about the parks and stuff. also you get food! it was very nice to have breakfast and drinkable coffee (not the stuff they give you in the rooms!) ready every morning. plus a light lunch and snacks (the sugar cookies are great!) and for dinner soups and like one hot thing like ribs and a vegetable salads. the desserts were very good! it really also great to have drinks ( they have a pop and water juice)thru out the day. we did the parks in the a.m. and came back after lunch and went to the pool and out again in the p.m. so we really used our resort and the cl. the food offereings some say are not really a meal replacement but they are very good and a very nice treat. plus you get turn down services at night, your room is ready for you! the lights are turned on low and the beds are all fixed nicely for you to climb in them. some will say they don't need all the extra stuff in cl but to me i love nice things and extra touches so it was great for us. i have stayed at the wl before not cl but if we were to stay there again i would totally do cl! i say go for it! have a great time!

I agree with the above poster! Especially for two special occasions, you would feel pampered!
My granddaughter and I stayed CL at the Wilderness Lodge this year and I loved it. This was my first stay at the WL and it was awesome. The rooms are apparently no different in CL, but the service makes up for that! There is ample food in the lounge; however, my one complaint was that there was not the variety I would have liked. (a pork dish two nights in a row) For me and my DGD, it was enough that we did not have to go have dinner somewhere (we're both light eaters tho, so that would not apply to everyone) We had a great view from our room...we could see the MK fireworks, and watch the monorail gliding to and from the Contemporary. Also, you can watch the Elec. water parade from the WL.
I liked CL enough that my sis and I are doing AKL CL in December!
Let us know what you choose...I say "go for it"!!

Concierge level service is not worth rack rate, but when we can get a discount, we do it every time. It is only worth it if you take advantage of the IPO. Don't pay all that extra money for food (you could eat daily as a couple at a signature restaurant for that money!) Also know that concierge doesn't mean special seating or availability in restaurants.

Another idea might be to use Dream Unlimited (they offer concierge service to book your dining and recreation), and then to book a 1 bedroom villa at one of the Villas. You get a one bedroom suite with a full kitchen (you don't have to cook, but you can stock it for quite a bit less money than staying concierge!) The suite has a jacuzzi tub for two...so that can be nice for a couple.

We've done conceirge level there and Poly and in my honest opinion, is really nice but not worth the money. We're in our late 50's, just the 2 of us, so we don't need much, we've been to WDW over 38 times and do the whole trip ourselves, we know where we want to dine and do the few must do's or likes before we leave home, as for conceirge personnel helping with dining or tickets, don't rely on them getting you reservations while on your stay, they can't get alot when reservations are full. Our experiences with them has been spotty to snooty, like they're bothered if you stop and ask and always have to get back to you on your question, while some go out of their way to help you, our past says they are few and far inbetween.

Food offering are okay, now, but we super years ago, seems the guests have over run the lounges and less are being put out, drinks you have to ask for, again guests taking six packs of pop and beer or bottled water and towards the end of the meal mostly leftovers, not worth the price of conceirge if you get there late. As for rooms, same size and amenties as standard but mostly with a preferred view again not worth the price. Turn down services can be gotten at any level or resort so again , paying for something that everyone can get.

We check discounts and rates and if a super discount comes out for WL conceirge we will consider but lately we just take the saving by not staying conceirge and stay longer, buy our groceries, alcohol and supplies and have our own conceirge by ourselves.

I've stayed at the Polynesian concierge building on 3 different trips, and the Wilderness Lodge concierge floor on 1 trip. I feel that the money we spent on concierge was worth it. If you try to figure out if it's worth it in a monetary sense it'll never be "worth it".

To answer part of your question, we do feel that the investment contributes to the overall enjoyment of our trips. :)

We like concierge for many reasons, such as:

Room location (at the Polynesian, concierge is a building by itself, with the best view on all of WDW property, IMHO; at some of the resorts such as the Wilderness Lodge, concierge is a separate floor,);

Being able to ask for extra help with certain things (My DH is diabetic and on one trip we were arriving at the Polynesian after midnight and I knew he'd need a snack before he could take his bedtime medications so concierge left a plate of fresh fruit and other wrapped items, as well as diet soda and water, right in our room for us);

Also, being able to get last-minute dining reservations, primarily for the restaurants in the resort you're staying at, even after being told the restaurant was sold out;

Other things such as complimentary use of umbrellas if it's raining out (not sure if all of the resorts do this, but the Polynesian concierge does);

Being able to sit down at the concierge desk and check on your flights home and have them do early check-in for you (yes I realize that most other resorts do this for the non-concierge guests too in the main lobby of the resort, but club level concierge will do this for all airlines and check anything you want them to check online, whether it's a participating airline or not, and print out anything you want from the internet, which I think is a nice convenience);

Breakfast each morning; I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pineapple bread at the Polynesian concierge, as well as the mango/orange juice;

Availability of sodas, snacks, spring water, etc, throughout the morning, day and evening;

Other food items, such as the hot offerings, which make a nice appetizer before heading out to dinner. The desserts and cordials are nice later in the evening, if you're at your resort at that time...

Ok, so I've listed most of the things that WE enjoy about concierge and what makes it "worth it" to us. I think this is something that each person or family has to decide on, really.

Best wishes to you for a great trip, wherever you stay!! :sunny:

P.S. I have a lot of pictures, and commentary, on all of our Disney trips, on my web site. The link is below...enjoy! :)

I didn't say it in my above post, but I would never pay rack rate either. That would not be worth it to me. As a matter of fact, I have a discount on our current ressie, but hope to be able to do better if I'm lucky enough to snag a 40% Pin Code!!!

I completely agree. For the rack rate CL price, I would much rather pick up the phone and make my own ressies :goodvibes

IMO, no.

IMO, no.

No. But you have to screw around getting your room key out just to access the floor or building. Other than an added inconvenience, there is no difference.
Has anyone stayed at the Wilderness Lodge concierge level? I would like to hear about other resorts as well.
I have. It was fine, but not worth an extra $10 a day, much less over $100. As far as WDW concierge goes, it was average. But WDW concierge is nothing special to begin with, IMO.
I would also love to hear about any other thoughts on how to make our trip special - and especially his birthday special.

Thanks:flower3:
Almost every meal I eat, I hear the servers singing "Happy Birthday" to someone. So, you should be able to get that done!

Granball,

We always stay DVC or deluxe, but rarely stay concierge. For our trip in July, I started out with a std room at the BC. We're celebrating my dd's sweet 16 and decided to upgrade to a deluxe room w/concierge....

It's running us about $600 more for the 5 nights, but boy is it worth it (and I'm not even there yet!) The ladies in the IPO office have been fantastic!! They've set us up with an Illuminations cruise, a bunch of ADR's that I couldn't get when I called myself, and they've set up a few other things as well......I couldn't be more happy!

If you're planning a special occasion, I'd say that concierge is the way to go. :thumbsup2

Concierge Levels or Club Levels as they are now called, (because there are Concierge desks in the Resort lobby's and the names were confusing a lot of guests) are so worth the extra $ per night. My family and I always stay at the Atrium Club 12th floor at the Contemporary and we keep going back, because staying up there makes things a lot easier for our vacations to WDW.

This December we are staying at the King Kamehameha Club Level at the Polynesian in a Garden View room that we are looking forward to.

IMO paying rack rate for Club (concierge) Level is not worth it. I can and do make my own ADRs and have always been able to get what I want with those ~ of course, I make them in advance. If you are planning *last minute* I'm sure that IPO can probably get you some that you couldn't get on your own.
Food selections during the day vary from resort to resort, but I think the breakfast choices are the best of the day. It is nice to be able to go to the lounge and grab a bite while everyone else is getting ready to go in the morning. Desserts and cordials in the evening are also nice, but I was disappointed with what was offered during the day. For the price difference (if paying rack rate) you can have a very nice dinner at one of the signature restaurants.

Are the CL rooms different? Yes, some are ~~ and that IS why I would stay Club Level at the one of the BW area resorts. They each offer a larger room choice ~ Deluxe room at BWI & BC and Junior Suite at the YC. These rooms have the two queen beds just as a "regular" room and then a sitting area with a pull-out sofa, table and armoire with a 2nd tv. I'm not sure if each of the other deluxes offer this choice, but I would think they might.

While I think CL is *nice*, for me it isn't worth it to stay in a 'regular' room ~ for the Deluxe room at a very substantial discount ... Yes, I will do that.

"Does it make your trip better?" ~ Honestly I think the answer to that is No, but I know there are many who would disagree with me.

IMO I think it is worth it! Totally worth it! What a great present, and a great way to pamper yourselves!

The view and location is what you are paying for when you book concierge at the Poly. The planning and food offerings are nice, but not "worth" the extra thousand or so dollars for the week. Just my opinion.

No, the concierge is not worth it. We , as you see, just went, and we went us 4 and 8 other people. 2 of those people stayed in concierge. when we got home, they said tha it was cool at first, but after the second or third day, thee was no point in it.

I have only stayed concierge level once - the GF Sugar loaf, and didnt make good use of the facilities only took breakfast pastries, no meal booking or evening service as we are park commandos. I paid rack rate and would not do this again. Our room view was not great. If concierge at another resort secured us a larger room, and I planned on using the concierge service and offerings I would book it again at a discounted price only.

1) This is a question frequently asked.
2) For monetary payback, Club Level IS NOT worth the added cost.
3) What you get cannot equal the added costs.
4) But, some people enjoy Club Level
. . . they can make ADR's for you *
. . . you can get turn-down service, but any Deluxe Resort room can get this
. . . the lounge has snacks and drinks
5) It all boils down to personal choice.

* Club Level staff will make ADR's for you, but they cannot get hard-to-get ressies any better than you can. They DO NOT have a special "in" for ADR's. They can sometimes get a last-minute ADR at their own resort for booked restaurants, but no special inroads at other eateries.
