Concierge Level Etiquette

Haha! I don't mean to laugh, but I also didn't mean for you to overscrutinize your actions by what I said, by any means. You are obviously someone with manners and a conscience. How refreshing! :goodvibes

First of all, please stop worrying! :) There's a big difference between the conservative and smart planning that you mention above, and are apparently naturally inclined to do, as compared to people who might grab all the available boxes of cereal because they might want to gorge on sugary cereal their entire trip, flight home and following week on Disney's dime. Please feel free to smartly feed your children with no fear of repurcussions. ;)

Thanks, I do try to have good manners, but have to admit on occasion have lapsed!! I'm embarassed to admit on out first trip with DS, I got so caught up in the excitement of taking my first child to Disney that I cut in line for a parade!. Very embarassed about it now, but I totally didn't think of others!! :sad2: I promise I won't be doing that again. :flower3: I'm trying my best .

We stayed first time CL AKL last year and it was very nice. We could take snacks from the lounge with us. I took fruit, yogurt, a soda that sort of thing back to the room with me. The CM's were wonderful they even gave me a take out cup for my latte in the morning. The cereal might be a problem because it is not in individual boxes but in large containers. I would go get our breakfast and take it back to the room on the days we slept in. It was never an issue.

I did see some very bad behavior while there. One lady took the large glass bottle of water that was intended to share for everyone. Another group of people took the entire cheese platter to their table. The CM did say something to them. The only thing you cant take out of the lounge is alcohol because of the whole underage thing.

It sounds like you are going to be just fine. You apparantly know what is right and what is wrong. Relax and have a great time!!! I was concerned with a toddler in the lounge but is was nice and relaxing because they had an area for him to be with the other kids while we supervised.

You may not of known this but, all you need to do is ask the CM on duty and they will get you a glass bottle of water to take back to your room to enjoy.

I think that just the fact alone that the OP is asking this question shows that she has manners and consideration for others :thumbsup2

disneywith4boys: Go and have a wonderful time!!! :sunny: I've stayed CL at the Wilderness Lodge and at the Polynesian, and personally have never seen rude guests firsthand, although I'm sure they exist.

Hi,

Just returned from a stay th the BC concierge. Lots of people took food to their rooms - not a problem. The CM's were telling guests at check in that this was OK. I did observe LOTS of guests(mostly adults) in the lounge without their shoes on? I am not an overly uptight person or a huge stickler on manners, but really? No shoes in a public lounge where people are eating? :confused3 Anyway, I'd say wear shoes.

You'll be fine! I never felt embarrassed 'cause I had 1 or 2 too many croissants on my plate (I love those things!) as I walked back to my room. Keep in mind, no one knows how many people may be in your room. You could be collecting food for 3 other folks! I would never give someone 'the look' because I felt they were taking too much food. I collected breakfast items for my mother and I back in Feb. The only thing I was embarrassed about.....I never thought to use the tray under the ice bucket. Duh. I learned that trick just recently. When I return this month I plan to take 3-6 (depending on how long we'll be gone each day) extra breakfast pastries for mid-morning/afternoon snacks while in the parks. I'm paying for them (AND THEN SOME). They WILL be eaten. To me....jumping in front of guests for the parade is a MUCH bigger offense. I'm glad you realize that.;)

I have stayed concierge at most of WDW properties and others during my travels. We take breakfast back to our rooms frequently to save time and this is a common practice, as is evidenced by trays that are provided. We don't take too much and we are polite and clean (no trays on the floors, etc). The lounges are often crowded during service times and there is not enough room for everyone.

Children should be controlled and helped at the buffet areas, but they usually have a kids area so they are not a problem, in my experience. The AKL has little chairs and a television with kid movies, cartoons and the little ones seem happy there.

Enjoy your trip and don't worry! Have FUN!

I totally agree!

As an FYI, I have often poured a glass of wine and gotten a small plate of cheese and crackers to take back to our room to nibble on while I clean up for dinner. The club level staff have never taken issue to it.

I've never walked off with an entire bottle of wine though... :sad2:

My parents and I have had a lot of stays on the Atrium Club Level at the Contemporary and we see nothing wrong with taking things from the lounge back to our room. Most of the times the only things we take back are extra can drinks. The odd times we have taken some foods back during breakfast, afternoon snacks, 5:00 PM Hors D'Ouvres and 8:00 PM Deserts, because we felt like relaxing in our room and not in the lounge. However I don't see that as doing something wrong, since we are paying extra for the foods and the Cast Members never say a thing about it. I will say once we are finished eating in our room we always return our plates and silverware back to the lounge, instead of leaving it out by our door for housekeeping to clean up.

1) You will be taking food back to the room.
2) You will probably not be on the Club Level floor with a Deluxe room.
3) You will have to take stairs or elevators to the 7th floor.
4) Take at least one of the kids to help you carry food.

It is acceptable to get your breakfast and bring it back to your room it is acceptable to take what you need and leave the rest ;) Lots of people would rather sit on their balcony or by the pool and have their snack or breakfast and do not want to sit in the lounge or find lack of seating, so it's expected for guests to take food back or out of the lounge. No problem taking an extra water or two for your room, you're paying for it.

Personally, I have absolutely NO problem whatsoever with anyone taking anything they want, it's there, you've paid for it and that's that.

I do have to agree with the "watch the children" statement, gee seeing some little monkey with their grubby little hands in public food or biting and putting back or the ill fated "double dipping" makes me sick  it's a germ thing, lol.
