Unfortunately, I feel that some, not all, who stay concierge feel entitlement - entitlement to whatever they want whenever they want.

I for one don't want those type of people on my vacation and will think twice before I would book concierge at WDW.

That's it exactly! While the Values are best for my family right now, I've often considered saving more for an eventual CL trip. However, I stress out over people's lack of consideration and unfounded assumption of entitlement in everyday situations; it would be quite counterproductive to pay for a more special experience (dare I say "magic?") at the concierge level and then have to deal with attitudes like those described in this thread. I am very happy for those who enjoy their concierge stays, but doubt I'll ever take the chance.

We stayed Poly Concierge few years ago....Kids loved it...
especially loved the guava juice in the morning.
DS looked forward to it every day

can't say we managed to go to all the offerings each day with the exception of breakfast.
but quite honestly did not encounter too many "rude" patrons.
maybe I was oblivious or maybe it was because I was not at the dinner snack but one day out of 4
and we also did not use any of the concierge services

but my favorite one is riding the golf cart to your check in and being the only one there checking in

just pure heaven
and that to me is worth it

One AM this man in his robe and barefooted comes around the corner from the lounge as we are waiting on the elevator with a tray that had enough food on it to feed a NFL team for breakfast....he must have had 4 dozen donuts and pasteries... as we all turn and stare he says "Just taking my wife a little breakfast in bed" and my daughter mutters "Watch out for the wet donuts"

If she honestly eats that many donuts for breakfast it probably takes a crane to get her out of bed!

I'll be the first to admit when there's Krispie Kreme's, I usually go back for a second

But four dozen? Even if they are splitting them, who can eat two dozen donuts? Unless that was breakfast, lunch and dinner... that's pretty gross, I'll stop now.

Staying concierge is really a nice thing to do for lots of reasons, but you have to enjoy those types of things to think it is worthwhile. I have laughed at the concierge horror stories that people have told, and you do see it at some level, but not the entire trip, at least that wasn't my experience. I have seen the jammie people in the morning and I think you just have to laugh to yourself. Most people present themselves in a more dignified way. On a side note, I just returned from Atlantic City where my husband and I stayed club level at one of the resorts there, and there were no jammie people in the lounge in the morning. The food at WDW concierge is what it is, not plentiful, and when it runs out, it is gone. But if you are eating your meals the way you normally would, then it isn't a huge thing. Actually, I like to be able to grab a beverage, coffee is always hot, and my kids will find something to eat, usually a big cookie or some fruit. I haven't seen people with plastic bags or hording food, but I wasn't really paying attention either. I have stayed concierge at Yacht Club and Boardwalk Inn and they were both wonderful experiences. I wouldn't not stay concierge at WDW because of the behavior of a few, it is like everything else, it is what you make it.

Was this wrong? Staying CL at the YC. We asked if there were any plastic bottles of water to take to the park. The CM said no but go ahead and take the large 1 liter glass bottles. Which we did. Was this wrong? Would it have been any different if she had not prompted us to take the bottles (1 for each of us 2 total) and we simply took them? And I'm not sure we would've taken them unless prompted.

Not looking to get flamed and we didn't "pig out" on much since there weren't many lower carb offerings throughout the day.
Just looking for your take on the glass bottle of water issue.

When you are a single mother, staying concierge makes things a little easier. I don't have to bring my young son (who, over the course of our trips, has been age 1-5) who cares nothing about morning coffee go with me all the way down to the lobby somewhere. It's really nice to be able to just get him ready and watching cartoons on those cute little couches while I have coffee
It's also very convenient if he wants a driiiiink in the evening (no reason to go hunting down a juice box somewhere in the resort) and we can just pop in two doors down the hall for a drink. I love concierge for the ease and convenience

Am excited about trying RPC! I haven't noticed a lot of negative concierge behavior either, but cost-wise, we save it for special occasions. I cannot tell you all the wonderful memories I have with my son at WDW. And I LOVE just going the two of us....we have so much fun together!!!

The CM asked us if we wanted to take the bottle back to our room for water during the night. I wouldn't have known you can take a glass bottle back either.

I wouldn't have taken the large bottle, it's not ike you can carry it around with you. I don't see CL as providing every whim and need for the entire day, more of a few treats for during downtime at the resort. I think they told you to take it because they've had so many people complaining that they no longer have the plastic bottles, but those glass bottles really aren't meant to be used as the park water supply. You asked, and received, nothing wrong with that, but I would have politely declined the offer. My opinion.

I think I'd be worried about the glass bottle breaking (and it being heavy)...but then I'm at the parks with a young child when I go, so that's where my head goes.

When we stayed at both YC and BWI we were offered a large bottle of water by the concierge cm's. I don't remember the why or how of it, but it was offered to me. I just took it back to my room. I didn't take it into the park with me since it was a large glass bottle.

I wouldn't worry about if you did something wrong. It was offered to you and if they didn't want you to have it then they would not have offered it to you.

Now that I think of it, I remember at Yacht Club a teenage girl asked for a bottle of water to take into the park with her and she was handed the large glass bottle. She turned to me and said, "What am I going to do with this?" with a little teenage attitude. You certainly aren't the only one who has been offered the glass water bottle.

I thought glass bottles were not allowed in the theme parks. I'm surprised the cast member encouraged taking them.

Your DH's recent business trip to China reflects the differences in attitude/culture. I've read the biggest differences in the WD Park in Japan, is most guests refrain from ever "stepping" on areas people will use for seating (ie: IASW type attraction, where guests step DOWN into the boat by initially stepping ONTO the seat!). Please, do not let any negative comments/perspectives (including mine) deter you from giving WDW CL a try. The "dynamics" involved in every situation/visit are drastically different. Therefore, you may truly ENJOY your CL stay. Even with the things I've witnessed, I still choose to stay CL. I'll use more discretion when partaking of the food items, thanks to the eye-openers of numerous posts! But, I view this as a POSITIVE thing. Give it a try, and maintain an open mind.

It was warm enough waiting for the boat to MGM that we both finished the bottles of water before we got to the actual entrance to the park so bringing in the bottles was not ever in question. Avid water drinkers here.

I guess I am somewhat dismayed that the tone ssems to be that unless you eat said food or beverage product in the lounge, you are lowlife scum not deserving of being at CL. No taking a glass of wine to your room, taking a bootle of water or soda (yea, it's warm) to the parks.

I never realized that by taking a bottle of water to the park I was going to be lumped in with the folks who take 4 dozen pastries to their room, grab a full bottle of wine, fill up their plate and plates for all their group staying in other resorts,etc.

Yes, this has definitely given me a different perspective on CL.

I guess I asked for this when I asked for opinions on taking the bottles of water. Just didn't expect the vehemence.

Ah-ha! Attack of the concierge guests! Kind of like a scary movie... I don't want to be at a concierge anywhere where people are watching like hawks to see what the others are doing! Just go and have fun- the CM's offer the water and offer for you to take things to your room. No one here should care in the least what anyone else is doing as long as it's OK with the CM's. Those cookie hogs are doing us a favor, I'm betting that most everyone could do without that extra cookie anyway (especially me!)

No, Ducklite, my issue is not that I asked and received your opinion. I'm fine with that, I guess. My issue is that you think I believe that the CMs should provide my every whim and desire for the entire day. Absolutely not true. Where you extrapolated that is beyond me.

An extra level of service by the CMs is what is expected, an attempt at a window seat for a PS, maybe an attempt at a last minute PS, etc. for example. I am not asking for the impossible, just "can you see what you can do". If not to be, oh, well, they tried.

If a CM is going to offer me a bottle of water to take to the parks when i realize it's a heavy glass bottle, it is my choice, i guess, to take it or leave it. And if you want to label me a CL heretic for doing so be my guest.

Hate to have this discourse with you because I agree with so many other things that you have said
