We've used it for a night or two @ Mandarin Oriental in D.C.; Charleston Place Hotel (no longer in the program); and for a week at the Grove Park Inn Resort. Never had a problem getting a room and these stays were not generally booked well in advance.

It's been a few years since I have used my points for a Concierge Collection reservation. If there is availability at the hotel, you have your reservation. I have not had problems getting my reservations.

Good luck and have fun.

How did you like your stay at the Mandarin Oriental? We are thinking of going this fall?

We loved it! We booked two rooms for a couple of days as we were traveling with a friend of ours who was visiting us from England. The rooms were first class - large, clean, everything you'd expect from this type of hotel. The staff were extremely courteous and friendly. Spa is top notch, too. The restaurants are on the pricey side though, but there are tons of other dining options in DC. The hotel was excellent views of several of the monuments. That being said, the location of the hotel isn't exactly situated near all of the tourist attractions - if that is important to you for your trip.

We stayed at the Loews Regency in New York City. We didn't have a problem with availability...we booked it about 3 months before our trip. It is a very nice hotel and great location!!:)

Not the best use of points at Disney--we've used pts twice to stay in Concierge at the GF & at the Poly for 2 nights.

We enjoyed it, but did not enjoy the $95 fee they charge. Simply ridiculous when it's another Disney property. We had no trouble getting the room w/ under 1 months notice each time. We had points to use up & couldn't bank them b/c we're doing the AK cruise next year & plan to bank ALL our 2011 points for use in 2012.

We have used it twice, in both cases because all or parts of previously booked DVC trips had to be cancelled and we had to use up points quickly before they expired.

First time was to the Sagamore in NY. We did three nights in a lakeview villa there over the Columbus Day weekend and all I can say is INCREDIBLE - service and ambiance at that resort are as good or better than anything you will ever experience at a Disney property.

Second time was two nights at the Boston Harbor Hotel (no longer part of the program) in mid February. This was O.K. - nice hotel (room had incredible view of harbor) but certainly not a "lifetime memory" experience like the Sagamore. DVC seems to have a hard time finding/securing the right urban properties for Concierge.

We've used it at the Whitehall in Chicago on two separate occasions, and gave our daughter 2 honeymoon nights at the Royal Garden in London. No difficulty getting reservations any of those times.

Last year we stayed for 6 nights at the Fairmont in San Francisco and it was fabulous! Our room had a panoramic view of the bay from the Golden Gate bridge to Alcatraz. I didn't think it was a bad use of points as we would not have been able to afford this hotel otherwise.

Ok we are sold.. The Manadrin Orient will be our next stay. Best of all with the Southwest Airline sale coupled with the $25 off coupon our airfare will cost $74 rt per person. Can't wait for member services to open so I can book it!
Thanks everyone for your help! :worship:

Thanks to everyone that replied!!! I am glad to hear it is pretty easy to book and that you enjoyed your trips. This will help me to convince my husband that we should go ahead and buy. :cool1:

Yay! Glad that you were able to decide. We've only stayed the DVC resorts on property in WDW as well as the deluxe resorts (YC, GF, AKL Concierge- before it turned into part-DVC) on site through our points. We'll be staying on points at a non-DVC resort, the Fairmont SF for a week in August. So excited. It was so easy to book and the DVC person I talked to was very knowledgeable about the hotel. We can't wait.

That sounds like fun! :yay:I want to go to DC, so we might use some points for just a few days there. I just see so many possibilities!! I can't wait to go to Vero and HH too! I think we willl probably go to the WDW every other year and either bank the points or use them for other destinations the other years. I love the mouse!!

Well to follow up on booking a trip to the Mandrin Orient in Washington DC they are booked till Dec 2010!
We are totally flexible on the dates but they have no availablity till Dec. So we were able to get a room at the Wyndham Resort in Nashville but it too did not have a whole lot of availability for a four night stay.
So if you are planning to go to either of these locations make sure to plan well in advance.

We used it twice to stay at the White Swan Inn in San Francisco. The first right after 9/11 and again a year later with my wifes parents. Unfortunately they are not in the program anymore but it was a great place to stay.

Could you please describe the location a little bit, as to what is within walking distance, etc? We have thought about visiting my sister in NH and taking the train down to NYC some day, I thought this would be a great option.
