Has anyone used their points to vacation at The Sagamore at Lake George, NY. It is part of the Concierge Collection. I am thinking of using some points in 2008 to take a trip there. I would be coming from Maryland and could drive. I hear Lake George is beautiful and the golf is good. Anybody have any experience with this resort?

TIA!

My Husband and I stayed here this past June for our anniversary. We weren't able to trade our points for a room in the main lodge - there was nothing available, we ended up staying in one of the lodge suites. We really enjoyed it. We ate at most of the restaurants (including the afternoon tea), took a ride on the Minnie HaHa, and used the spa at the resort. The resort is older which bothers some people, but we thought that was part of the charm. The suites do smell a bit musty, but our room was clean and a very nice size.

If you do a search on Sagamore - you get lots of threads and trip reports. My advice - if you like an older hotel with character and charm, it is a very nice place. If you like things more modern and new, you may not enjoy it.

The views are beautiful up there!

Do a search...I think there was a posting earlier in the summer by a DVC member who did not have a good experience here. We have a cottage in the Adirondack Mountains and I can tell you that everyone always speaks of the Sagamore as being very fancy! It is a historical Adirondack lodge..and most things that are historical in the mountains reflect their authentic history (not always updated in that "faux theming" Disney way- not to know Disney..I love faux theming!).

Lake George is a Love It/Hate it kiind of place.. the lake activities are plentiful...the village is very kitschy!!

We stayed there in a one bedroom Lodge suite over the Columbus day holiday weekend back in 2003. Probably the best stay we've ever had using DVC points outside the core DVC properties. The fall color around the lake was absolutely incredible, the resort itself is just as upscale as anything at Disney World.

My family still talks about that trip as one of the best we've ever taken using DVC points. But let's let the pictures talk:

Thanks everyone for your replies! I think it's a go for us in 2008! :thumbsup2 Probably July (for the best golfing). I did try a search on "Sagamore" but nothing was returned.
