Concierge Collection--The Sagamore--Warning!

but I would LOVE to see (maybe somewhere on this site) a place where folks can rate, provide comments about the various hotels/vacations that you can use your points with that are not disneyworld resorts. It could be very similar to the way you rate disneyworld resorts, etc. I just like to see what you folks have to say about your stay and see the various ratings - and it would be easier to see it in one location. Just some food for thought...:)

Anne, I'm so sorry. Basement....dehumidifier....sounds like you stayed at my in-laws, not a famous hotel!!! :rotfl:

Here are some photo's. These are from the second room.

Here you can see how wooded the "waterview" is.

This shows how off-kilter the kitchen counters were to each other.

Nice step in shower, but no shelf space at all:

Don't mind the slug on the sofa...

So as you can see, it was clean, but the view was certainly too obscured by heavy old growth trees to be considered water view. Had this room been offered to us the first night, we would have been much happier. But that basement room, yuck!

Oh--and the lady at check-in the first night suggested that if we didn't want to sleep in double beds we could use the pull out in the living room. Just for giggles we checked, and the mattress was worse than any pull out we've ever seen at a DVC resort. Um right, I'm paying rack rate to sleep on a pullout.

I can't imagine any pull-out bed would equal a wonderful king or queen mattress... not sure where she was coming from? :confused3 The room you show does look like something I would be very comfortable in though. Sorry you didn't get it the first night... I am not one that cares too much about views. If I could save some points on this room, I would snap it up. I am sure you're next stay will be better, because I am sure you will make sure of it... leave nothing to chance.... :thumbsup2

Aside from the "view", the room seems dated. 51 pts per night??? Ouch! You could have stayed in a grande villa at OKW for 51 pts, and I guarantee that everything about it would have been an improvement! I had the Sagamore on my list for the future, but I'm taking it off. It's better than a Motel 8, but a Motel 8 doesn't cost $510 per night. No, thanks. I have stayed at the Whitehall in Chicago on points, and it was wonderful! Everything seemed new, and the staff was great--unlike the Sagamore, the Whitehall is well worth what you pay to stay there. I'm sorry you had a rotten experience, but you saved many of us from a similar fate. :wizard:

Sagamore was on my list of places I wanted to try....

My husband and I traded out DVC points for the Sagamore this past June. The rooms are a bit stale. But we were told that the basement are the suites (kitchenette, living area, separate bed and bath) which is why they had you in the "basement". It is an older resort and hasn't been thoroughly rehabbed so there is a bit of a smell, but we thought the suites were nice. True - you couldn't really see the lake throught the foliage, but we enjoyed the secluded feeling. And I have to say, we ate at The Sagamoore Dining Room, The Club Grille, the Pavilion (for a lobsterbake... yum!) and had afternoon tea in the veranda. We were never disappointed in the food.

So, IMHO, don't knock this off your list yet if you want to try it. Just realize it is an older resort and things aren't all new and shiny.

The main resort itself is beautiful and very romantic in a victorian sort of way!

Hope that helps anyone who was hoping to visit!

Hmmm.. just saw your pictures of the room not in the basement and it sure looks like a suite to me... looks like we were mis-informed. Oh, well. We still enjoyed our stay.

There are non DIS places you can do so. For timeshares both Timesharing today and Timeshare users group do so. For hotels, tripadvisors is one place you can rate them as well.
