Can someone who has been at the Poly CL lately please tell me who is now the chef? Last October I think his name was Eugene, a really nice fellow who had high hopes of staying on as the new chef? He was trying so hard to please and I always wondered if he got to keep the job.

TIA,
Deb

Circusgirl, you never fail to please:worship:. Your photos are gorgeous and that view - WOW. We're booked GV, but your LV is just dreamy and has me wondering if I "need" to upgrade... Thanks for indulging me (and my DH and DD who just love your photos, too):goodvibes

BTW, if you just happen to have anymore Poly photos that are just begging for IMG codes...popcorn::

Found out I can cancel my reservation thru disney and book it thru AAA and get the discount
:thumbsup2

We're about 1 month out from our BWI CL stay....

When would be a good time to make a room request?

Should I call or email?

TIA:thumbsup2
Congratulations on being only one month out:)

A room request can be added to your reservation at any time, but best to do it at least a week prior to arrival. Since you're booked CL, you have the option of e-mailing your room request to the IPO or you can call the WDTC (if you booked through them). I like to email the IPO and have them verify that my room request is in their system.

Circusgirl......Your pics are awesome.....thanks so much for posting them :). We love the Poly and have stayed there before (although not CL), so I booked GV CL for December and now after seeing your pics I'm even more excited to try it :goodvibes. Thanks again for sharing :wizard:.

We made our room request back for our August 2011 reservation on Janurary 1, 2011 when we made our BWI CL reservations, then a few months later we made the same request with the BWI IPO. So you can make your request anytime.

Any YC experts here? Trying to decide between a standard and garden view. Price is very minimally different. Ultimately we are looking for a quiet room on the 5th floor!

When booking more than 6 months in advance, have your application (ADR, safaris, tours, tickets for the circus, etc.) to the initial public offering of 2-3 weeks in advance of the 180 days mark. Make public offering credit card for reservations, which are decisions that require pre-payment (such as CRT) or guaranteed by credit card (like the sun rising or setting Safaris

Circusgirl, WOW! What fab pics you've posted! We have GV CL for our upcoming trip, but that room view is to DIE for.

Thank you!! :goodvibes

Isn't that the strangest room category upgrade charge? It's only about a $3 a night difference to upgrade from STD to GV at the YC and BC. As a result, those GV sell out very quickly. I would absolutely not hesitate for a minute to book the GV room over the STD room. The STD YC/BC views are awful - parking lot (not so bad) AND roof top of pebbles and water puddles (bad).

I booked a YC/GV/CL room last August, but was upgraded to a LV, but with a view of SAB. I would have preferred the GV though since I find those quieter.

So if I were you, I would definitely book the GV and add the request: "Quiet location." This way, they will hopefully try to not put you near the lounge, SAB or stairwell. There really aren't any rooms immediately next to the elevators. The CL check-in desk is near them.

We will be staying WL CL for the 1st time in Aug. Does anyone have any suggestions for room requests?
We stayed at the WL a few years ago and were upgraded to a woods view room, which was very nice, but I am clueless what is a good view for a CL room.

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. I booked that room category this morning. It's funny we stayed CL last time at YC (unexpectedly when we moved from a resort we didn't like and this was all they had available). I have no clue what room category we were in (we overlooked distantly a parking lot but there was lots of greenery as well - it may have been garden view but I definitely don't want to look at a roof :) THANKS AGAIN!

I'd like to find out too. I "think" it's the same Chef Eugene who was at Boma. If so, he's a very very nice man and a good chef too. :goodvibes

We were there over Christmas and I was really impressed with the lounge and lounge staff. I would definitely return. All non-suite, non-Deluxe rooms are on the 7th floor and all 7th floor rooms have standing/dormer-type balconies. We were actually on the 5th floor.

WL/CL has three view options: WL Courtyard, Woods and VWL Courtyard. We stayed WL Courtyard and loved having a view of Bay Lake and the back of the Lodge:

You're welcome and congratulations on booking! It's definitely worth the additional $3+ a day::yes::

Looking for a little advice regarding my room request at Poly...

At the moment, we've got the following on our reservation:
"top floor balcony."

I know it's all luck of the draw but if that is granted, then we'd be super happy (don't like hearing people stomping overhead). What I'm wondering about is the noise levels on the third floor and whether I should add "quiet room" to the request? Not sure how noisy things are in relation to the lounge, etc. I don't want to be too bothersome with my requests and my first and foremost desire would be to get a top floor room. Any advice most welcome! Who knows, with your advice, I might stop calling myself Eggo. :thumbsup2;)

we are staying at the BWI club level in October. Since we will be doing a split stay, we plan on leaving our 1st hotel and going to the BW early in the morning around 9am. I know our room won't be ready yet, but will we be able to eat food from the lounge prior to our actual check in or would that be considered rude. We have a lunch reservation at DHS that day, but thought it might be nice if we could get some breakfast in the lounge that morning. thanks for any info.

Rude? No way! I do the exact same thing. Last year we went from AKL to YC and I made sure we were there before breakfast ended. The CL staff even mentioned to me how breakfast was still being served and that we should help ourselves - of course, I already knew this;). In a few weeks we're going from the CR to the Poly and you bet I'll be arriving by 0930 for breakfast.

You might even want to grab some sodas to take with you to DHS or maybe some fruit. And, you might be surprised and your room will actually be ready! BTW, you have access to the lounge up until midnight of your check-out day:thumbsup2

Thanks for the response:thumbsup2 This is our first time staying club level at Disney and we didn't want to do anything that will be frowned upon. We will definitely grab some breakfast. Thanks. :)

The moment you check-in for a Club Level reservation you have access to the lounge even if your room is not ready. In fact this past December during my most recent Club Level stay at the Boardwalk Inn while my family and I were eating breakfast a family had just checked-in and it was around 9:00 AM. Well we heard one of their Cast Members say their room was not ready yet, however they were also told to sit down and have some breakfast.

During my only Club Level stay at the Polynesian in December 2007 we happened to get a room on the 3rd floor and more specifically it was 3510, which was in the middle part of the hallway. As for noise the only thing we ever heard was the Christmas music being played all day on the beach because of the speakers they set up, however there was no other issues.

Also we didn't make any specifc requests to get a room on the 3rd floor, so it was just pure luck and nothing else.
