Concierge/Club Level Information - Part III (October 2010)

I would book again in a heartbeat. It exceeded my high expectations. It was meant to be a special treat, but of course now I only want to stay Club Level. I also benefitted from some fantastic pixie dust and was upgraded to a lagoon view from garden view. I had a fine view of the castle and fireworks. I hardly left my room and spent lots of relaxing time on the balcony.

My room was in the best condition of any of the rooms I've ever had at the Poly. It felt appropriately luxurious, especially in terms of size.

The lounge was lovely. There were different options for seating, and it was always clean and ready for guests. My only complaint is that the TV plays constantly. There is a second lounge area on the 3rd floor, just up the stairs from the main lounge, where there are tables with checkerboards, chairs,
sofas and another TV. They have games available to use in the area.

Tuna Poke is tuna sashimi in a light dressing and is a traditional Hawaiian dish.

I hope you have a wonderful time!

So glad you had a wonderful stay & pixie dust is always a great way to start a trip?

One more question for you....Do you know if beer was available during the day (mainly afternoon times)? We like to rest and hang by the pool & if beer was available in the afternoon my dh will be liking WDW a whole lot more :thumbsup2

After staying a few times at YC CL it looks like we will not have to worry about standing to eat our food at the Poly- it looks great! The YC was often so crowded you could not find a seat or even get near the food!

They don't put beer out until the appetizers come out at 5 pm. I have heard that people have asked and been given bottles, but I'm not a beer drinker so I never asked.

Yes, all you have to do is ask, my hubby and I were at the pool (afternoon)and he went in and brought two back! Alot of people were doing this, I read this beforehand, its o.k. with staff! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much...we stayed CL about 3 years ago & the beer was out in a fridge at least in the afternoon then, but I wasn't sure if that was still the case.

I'll be sure to ask...I know my dh will LOVE this perk!!

Thank you, Circusgirl for answering my questions and getting me excited about our first CL stay there. I have been fussing over those bad reviews you sometimes read about the poor room condition/smells/CL, etc... you name it, I've read it recently:sad2:. And, back in '07 we had a bad stay there and switched to another resort after 3 nights. I don't feel the "itch to switch" as much now after reading your review.

I was hoping that the Tuna Poke was a sashimi - yum! What an upgrade you received:thumbsup2. I've heard that you're more likely to be upgraded for a short stay, so I won't expect that since we're there for 7 nights. I assume you would have liked it just as much even if you were on the GV side of Hawaii?

Did you book a bounceback? Thanks again for the great photos:goodvibes

I read all those same reviews, and was prepared for something to be not up to snuff, but everything was terrific.

I definitely would have loved the garden view as well. It was important to me to have a balcony, so I had requested the third floor. The cast member at check in didn't tell me about the upgrade, so it was a fun surprise. I was just thrilled to have gotten my request for the third floor. My room was at the farthest end of the building from check in. I walked all the way down the hallway checking the numbers on the garden side, and only realized I would have a lagoon view when I ran out of rooms on the garden view side! I did spend a lot of time just relaxing on the balcony, reading my book and eating yummy snacks.

None of the bounceback dates worked for my schedule, but I'm going back in December and will be trying to swing another CL stay!

Circusgirl,
I just wanted to say your photos of the food offerings and etc in the Polynesian Club Level lounge looks amazing, so thanks for posting them.

My pleasure!

OMG Circusgirl THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! :worship: I am going to be staying there in December and those pictures are awesome!

It was a fantastic experience and I know you will have a spectacular time!

Thanks for the CL pics Circusgirl! My husband will be thrilled to see Yuengling!

:thumbsup2

Thanks for the pics of the Poly CL, I cant wait to be back in Sept! I tell you when we stayed there last Sept, it was so relaxing so pampering and so much fun!

Im use to staying Value and going to commando so changing to deluxe and slowing things down.. Incredible! Our WDW vacations will always be done this way!

I spent more time at the resort than in the parks, and loved it. I usually travel at the slowest of seasons and spend most of my time in the parks, so it was wonderful to enjoy all the resort has to offer, especially with the parks being (for me) uncomfortably busy and crowded.

Awesome pictures Circusgirl. we have stayed many times CL at the Poly and have loved it. The lounge offerings look even better thn ever.

The food was terrific and the presentation was gorgeous, especially for the appetizer offerings. My expectations were definitely exceeded. Another guest said it reminded her of when Chef Dick was there.

So will mine! Great pictures. Thanks for posting them.

It will be good to have happy husbands!

Some pictures of the lounge itself follow. I never had trouble finding a comfy place to sit, and enjoyed spending time there.

Yes, these are wonderful KK Club photos, Circusgirl. I hope the lounge is always that underpopulated when we're there in a few weeks:goodvibes

What a treat to have more lounge photos to admire today. I'd love to see your room and view, too. Of course, I know what it looks like, but I never get tired of "fresh" Poly photos:goodvibes

Thanks!

Circusgirl,

Thanks ever so much for posting the review and photos. I'm getting even more antsy for our stay now!

Now, I'm headed back to making our "to bring" list. Yes, that even includes what we're wearing... on each day. :crazy2:

Your very welcome! As far as I remember the beers were not kept in fridge at POLY. What was dissappointing last July when staying CL at POLY was the fact Chef Dick had literally retired within two weeks of my trip, I was so looking forward to one stay with him as Chef (CL).:sad2: I'm curious to see the difference a year makes from CL rooms to CL lounge.

I have never (and we have logged a good many years there) seen beers in the refrigerator at the Polynesian--only sodas. We have always asked and received if we wanted beers prior to service hours. It was never a problem.

logpey, you missed out on an experience--Chef Dick is a wonderful guy! :thumbsup2

We are going to be a BC in 24 days, we already have a trip planned for next year at POP, but not sure I could go back to POP after staying CL in a deluxe room. Called yesterday to see if there were any AAA discounts for the deluxe room while we are there, they said no, not now. Guess I will have to book another CL room and hope a discount comes out for a deluxe room

Yes, I was letting them know I never noticed beers in fridge, like at other resorts CL, which seems like a legality issue anyway. I know it makes me so upset about Chef Dick!:wizard:

Those BC/Deluxe rooms are elusive - there are only six of them. I had one booked and switched mostly because of all the exterior renovation work they're doing there. Good luck getting one next year and I hope you get a discount:goodvibes

Yep logpey, I was only piggybacking on your response to confirm your reply. ;)

So glad you're enjoying the pre-arrival phase so much. Planning outfits makes total sense, and prevents over-packing! If I had that much discipline, I would bring less stuff.

Do you know if there are Disney Junior movies available? If not, I need to carry some from home, but had rather not if possible.

You're welcome!

Found out I can cancel my reservation thru disney and book it thru AAA and get the discount

We're about 1 month out from our BWI CL stay....

When would be a good time to make a room request?

Should I call or email?

TIA:thumbsup2
