Might have a bit of a change in plans, and needed help from the experts.
Is the Old Faithful Club undergoing renovation in May 2012? Would you recommend a stay there then, or is it going to be crazy?

What time does the lounge open in the morning?

Thanks very much for your recommentations and advice! :flower3:

My kids are very opinionated, and they're only grade school age. I haven't stayed CL at Poly, but I will be sure to let you know what I think in about 6 weeks. I love the Poly, but we have only stayed in Samoa and Tokelau.
You will have a wonderful trip....the Poly is just beautiful!!!!
Mine are teens and are much more opinionated now on which resort they want to stay at than when they were younger :rotfl: :rotfl:. Are you thinking an outer building TPV instead of RPC or RPC TPV? The only reason I ask is because if being close to the lounge is important to you, I think the main building TPV rooms are farther away from the lounge. My favorite RPC view is of the beach pool/Poly, but that view is somewhat hindered by the DVC construction :(.
I don't mind any RPC room. I am worried about noise.....noise from my kiddos :lmao: Its RPC TPV....don't even know if it's still available....if it's meant to be.....:goodvibes

Hi!
I just upgraded to WL CL for our July/August trip. Will IPO contact me or should I send an email to them? My son's 10th birthday falls right in the middle of our trip and our daughter's 8th birthday is in July - 2 weeks before we go. I wanted to speak with a CM about setting up something special if possible.

Is it ok to send them an email?

Thank you!
Definitely send the email !!!!!

Hi, Jeanette!

That's an understatement for you - you do EVERYTHING for everyone else. You need to do TPV for youself. The kids will just have to suffer:rotfl:

Thanks  suffer they will

I know the WL is starting a renovation next month, but I'm not sure in just what part of the lodge it starts. Hopefully WDWKOOK will come along to give some insight on that. Or you can go to the WL FAQ and you might find some information on it there :goodvibes.

I wouldn't worry about noise from your kids......it's Disney afterall :dance3:. But really, I haven't had any trouble with noise in the room. On one trip our neighbors slammed their door a few times (for whatever reason :confused3), but other than that, we never heard talking or any other noise. Good luck with your decision and I hope RPC TPV is available should you decide to go with that :wizard:.

We started going to Disney when our kids were 6 & 8 and they were thrilled with any resort. Now that they're 17 and (almost) 19, they have a habit of voicing their opinions a little more . I don't mind it, though, because we all love the deluxes and I tell them as long as they choose a deluxe resort we're good :goodvibes. I will look forward to your review of Poly CL. We've only had 1 stay at the Poly and that was all we needed to fall in love with the resort. With that said, I have since wanted to try CL, but I have read so many negative things about it that I am very hesitant to spend the extra money, so I will be looking forward to another (recent) opinion of it ;).

oops posted twice.

I have read all the negative reviews also. It's seems like they are mostly about the rooms. I wonder if the Hawaii rooms are a little more worn. This will be our first CL stay at WDW. I really have nothing to compare it too. We are doing 6 nights at Poly, and 5 at Yc so I should get a good feel for both.

I think my kids got spoiled at an early age. LoL We have stayed in a lot of the deluxes, but there are only 3 they don't turn there nose up at. BW, BC/YC and POLY. I think it's mostly to do with pools. They're pool snobs.

Hi there,

I'm considering booking the Poly for a short Anniversary trip for 3 or 4 nights.

Thought about doing CL but budget limits us to Garden View CL.

Has anybody stayed GV CL before at POLY? How "bad" is the view? ;)

It adds an extra $400 on to the room charges. I was thinking of then getting rid of the Dining Plan.

Thoughts or advice are most welcome!!:)

Maybe I'm strange, but usually I actually prefer resort rooms with 'lesser' views. Like at CR, I prefer the Bay Lake view to the MK view, especially if we are staying club level. When I want to see MK, I just go to the lounge. At BC, we had a view partly of the parking lot, but it was quiet, we had a view of a garden, trees, and we could still see the ball. I also enjoy having a pool view. Truly, we don't spend all that much time on our balcony. We spend more time in the lounge.

That said, I had mixed feelings about our GV room at Poly. I prefer bright and cheerful decor. Poly is dark and brown. Our room was shaded much of the day. The view itself was lush, in that sense it was fine. Then again, the above has little to do with club level per say; I think all Poly rooms have brown decor. Of the three monorail resorts, I prefer CL CR and CL GF.

There is much to love about Poly (CL). The view in the Poly lounge is spectacular! It also has upper level quiet tables, so if you want to relax, it's a nice spot. The pool at Poly is also great.

With the way DDP is now priced, for us, combining club level and DDP is too much food. DDP only makes sense if you are going to use all the credits. At meals, most of my family prefers drinking water and minimal desserts. Without club level, DDP can be a convenient way to prepay for meals. That said, CL will not cover all your food costs. Look through this thread for additional info. Ther are also some great CL picture threads which will show you the kind of food offered.

mickeynut1 pointed you in the right direction:thumbsup2. I have the most current WL rehab info. posted to the first page, post #1 of the WL thread which is hyperlinked in my signature. I also have many CL photos and info. there, too.

The CL room rehab will begin on April 15 to May 4 on the North Side (nearest MK). From July 7 - July 27, the South Wing rooms (nearest VWL) will be closed. So if you arrive after May 4, you should have a fresh, new room! They won't start the South Wing until July 7.

The lounge opens at 0630 for coffee and juice only, which is actually served outside the lounge. Breakfast in the lounge is served from 0700 - 1030.

Thanks  It IS Disney, but you know not everyone is so forgiving ;) And RPC TPV was available...and I snagged it :yay:

It seems anything I've read about the lounge is either people loved it or they hated it. They loved it for the view or they hated it because food was stale and/or things weren't replenished. With that said, I hope you have a good stay and come back with a glowing review :goodvibes.

We've stayed at all but 3 deluxes and our boys love the Poly pool the best. They weren't impressed at all with the GF pool and I'm thinking we may try BWI next summer, so it will be interesting to see how that compares to the Poly :).

You're right......I'm sure there are some who wouldn't be too forgiving, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.....let your kids be kids.....my guess is they won't disturb too many (if any) people ;). Congrats on booking RPC TPV.....I know you'll love RPC and having the TPV will just add to it :wizard:.

Thanks. In my true RC nature, I keep looking around (refurbed room at WL :rolleyes1) But the Grand holds my heart. My family likes it there...Poly is a close second...but RPC kinda breaks the tie (today) :cloud9:

I know what you mean.......I do the same thing. We are booked for our first CR stay at the end of December and my mind keeps wandering back to the WL (especially with the refurb starting) :rolleyes1. The WL is our favorite resort during the holidays and while I'm excited about trying the CR, I REALLY love the WL all decorated at Christmas time. With that said, I think you made a great choice going with RPC :thumbsup2.

Thanks for your help, mickeynut1 and WDWKOOK. I may need to join the resort changers. :rotfl:
I called my daughter today, and she wants to spend a couple of days at POP, so we're two days at pop with her and her fiance. She works my last day in Fla, so I really pondered what would I love to do for one day, solo. First thing today, I called but the mil discount wasn't available at Wilderness Lodge CL. So, I booked AKL Standard for one night, and immediately made reservations for the Wanyama Safairi. The hubster is giving me the AKL break for my early birthday present. He can't make this trip, but will be along for our vacation at our fav, BWI.
I am very happy with how this worked out, and thanks so much for all the information you all share. It really helps with planning! :goodvibes

Hi, KOOK . I don't know how I missed this yesterday, but now that I see it, my mind is wandering as to whether or not I should switch from the CR for our New Years trip :rolleyes1. I am very excited about the CR, but we LOVE the WL (especially during the holidays) and we loved our CL stay :lovestruc. I hate these decisions.....especially when we won't be there long enough for us to warrant a split stay :sad2:. Thanks for the info, even if it is making me consider a resort change .

Quick Question....my hubby and I are going to be spending one day poolside at The Poly...we are staying CL...can we pop into the lounge during the day and take a few beers?

Yes, you can. However you have to get a CM to get them for you as they are not out to just grab. Also, I did notice that sometimes lounge CMs can be a bit hard to locate during the afternoon. After a few days of hanging out waiting to see someone, I realized it was easier to pop a few beers in the fridge during the evening when they are out so I could easily grab one the next afternoon for pool time.

I like your thinking :rotfl:

When I stayed Club Level at the Polynesian I remember seeing someone asking for two bottles of Heineken during the afternoon before they would be put out at 5:00 PM. So I don't see any problems doing that.

I have a question.

We are staying at the WL on the CL from May 1-8...standard view. I have emailed WDW twice to ask if any facilities including the old faithful lounge will be closed during our stay (hope not). They have emailed replies that they do not have this info and tho call closer to check in. But as we get closer to checkin it becomes more and more unlikely I can switch to another deluxe....especially two rooms at a military rate. They wouldn't offer concierge level rooms without concierge level amenities...would they?

Also, does anyone know if the mercantile carries lactose free milk? Or do they have a direct number so I can call them and eliminate the stop on the way from the airport.

Thanks in advance.

From everything I have read, the Old Faithful club will be fully operational during the renovation of the CL rooms at the WL.

As to your question about lactose free milk, I recommend calling the IPO and asking that they stock it in the club during your stay. The worst that can happen is they tell you that they can't get it. My dad is a diabetic and has other health problems that prevent him from drinking any juice except tomato. They were able to get individual cans of v8 for him during our stay. They don't put them out in the public refrigerator, but we only had to ask for one each morning and they promptly provided it. They may be able to do that with the milk.

I know you can't have glass at the pool. Do they provide cups or do they have aluminum bottles? At the HRH cl they have the aluminum bottes you can take to the pool. They also will provide you with a bucket of ice at the pool to keep them cold. Does Disney have the unbreakable bottles?
