Concierge/Club Level Information - Part II (Sept 2009)

In terms of the staff, I got a much warmer vibe from the staff in Hawaii than Sugar Loaf. The CMs at Hawaii were often standing up in the lobby to greet people coming back into the building (if they weren't sitting at the desk helping someone). At SL (and part of this is the design of the lounge and where the CMs desks are) no one ever greeted us. They always seemed to be staring down at their computer screens--even when we walked directly by them they didn't make eye contact. It's all a personal preferance -- I liked getting a friendly "Aloha" or "How was your day?" when coming back "home."

Part of this is the overall culture of the different resorts.

The Grand Floridian prides themselves on the "Victorian" atmosphere. "Victorian" is generally associated with "formal" and "Traditional", whereas, the Polynesian prides themselves on the "Aloha/Island Style" spirit, which is a lot more laid back and relaxed.

(That being said, there's no reason you can't have "Victorian" and "Friendly" at the same time)

Congrats! It really is a wonderful experiance there! When I contacted IPO about my plans I mentioned that I was hoping for a Boardwalk view - and when we checked in that's what we got. :)

Here's hoping a little bit of pixie dust floats your way!

We are booked at BWI CL for late May. I was going to request a BW view when I contact IPO, but should I also put the request on the reservation.

Also, I have read several reports of not so clean rooms at WDW resorts in general. We have experienced a few of our own and have just cleaned them ourselves.

I read something about a VIP cleaning and wondered if we could request something like this from IPO?

Oh.. What kind of comforters/bedding do the standard club rooms now have?

What are the food/beverage offerings at the Beach Club CL? or is there a link that you could direct me to?

Thanks! :)

I've been seeing alot of these reports as well! It's making me nervous!

I think you summed it up very well! DH and I were talking at the end of the trip and it dawned on us that each resort really does have its own "personality" so to speak and some guests prefer one to another, not that either is better or worse overall.:goodvibes

Any thoughts on BC CL v. Poly CL?

I know that the BC lounge is smaller. What are their food/beverage offerings like? Is their a menu anywhere on here- I can't seem to find one!

Did I hear correctly that the BC does not keep beverages out all day- that you have to ask? I thought I also read somewhere that the Poly has drinks avail 24 hours a day???

thanks

poly drinks are out all day in the refrigerator and they have good nightime food offerings as well. I have never stayed BC so can't help you there!

At the Polynesian it's the cans of Coke, Diet Coke and Sprite which are kept 24 hours a day in the lounge fridge and can be taken anytime by guests staying there. Other various drinks are taken away at specific times during the day.

Well we stayed at Poly last year, not club level so this year I bit the bullet and stayning at CL AKL. Hope I wont be disappointed. I know its not the best location but club level non the less!

Ah, thanks for this. Been angsting a bit about the lack of availability of drinks during BC/YC lounge closures but, since we don't drink soft drinks anyway, this makes me feel like I won't be missing anything important!

We are staying BWI CL. I emailed IPO to have them make an ADR. They confirmed that they did but they didn't give me a confirmation number. Should they have? This is my first time staying CL so I am not sure what is normal. Thanks!

I received a detailed email with confirmation numbers

I don't know if anyone has posted pics here yet, but here's some pics showing Beach Club's CL lounge before and after its renovation.
