Hey! So excited to have a reason to be back on the Dis Boards! We booked the GF club level at SugarLoaf for this coming January with the 7/4 deal. Just a question...

What does this mean?

Refrigerator - not stocked (available upon request at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa)

does that mean that the refrigerator is avail. upon request or stocking it is available upon request? If they stock the refrigerator upon request, does it cost more money?

Also, I emailed the IPO at GF to confirm that they will have beer and wine in the evenings and they said yes they will, that they have everything that the Main club level area has at GF. I thoiught I read on here somewhere that sugarloaf doesn't have everything that the main building has.

Love reading these threads!

When you check-in the fride in you're room will be empty and I guess you can request to the Grand Floridian IPO to have it filled with items when you arrive. Also from what I have read on here Sugar Loaf has the same exact items as Royal Palm.

All I know is our GF concierge room had the fridge stocked and it was just like a regular minibar costing for whatever you took out be it drinks, chips, whatever. I took a Minnie Mouse Pez. :) $10 though! I don't think I saw it on the list or I just didn't look. Can't remember. There is a list of what costs what there. somewhere.
Things may have changed in that they don't regularly stock anymore but I'm sure it still costs.

The refrigerator is there, it the stocking that is available upon request. There is a charge to stock the refrigerator. You are welcome to bring some drinks from the lounge back to the room to put in your refrigerator. The food and alcohol offerings are the same in SL and RPC.

It used to be that there were stocked minbars in all GF rooms. In addition, small dorm style refrigerators were available upon request. I think that info you read was a combination of that info. When the rooms were renovated 2 or 3 years ago, the minibars were removed. There are now builtin refrigs in the armoire. They are not stocked. I imagine they would stock them for you but there would certainly be a cost.

Until a few years ago, Sugar Loaf did not offer wine, beer and cordials nor were there desserts in the evening. Now service is identical in RPC and SL.

Thanks for that info and the way you describe Sugar Loaf is exactly the way the Atrium Club use to be prior to 2006 and before they re-designed the 12th floor with the lounge.

There is no charge for beer or any other types of alcohol that they offer and there is no limit on how much you can have. For example in August 2007 while in the Atrium Club lounge we started talking to someone who was drinking two bottles of Heineken at the same time, which he did more once when we would always see him in the lounge.

Thank you for the info! And I could totally see my hubby with two beers yucking it up with everyone in the lounge :) That's definitely his idea of a vacation (oh, and throw in a pool). Thankfully, his idea of a vacation FITS into my Disney obsession :lmao:

Hello everyone! I'm glad I made my way over to this thread. I booked Poly lagoon view CL yesterday with the 4/3 deal and I am so excited!

I've never stayed CL before and after reading this thread, I feel like I have a better idea of what to expect upon arrival.

I like the idea of IPO making my ADRs for me, but my concern is that I am one of those people that fall into the new 180 booking out category where everyone will be calling on Oct 27 to make their reservations at once. Do you think I'd have a better chance of getting what I wanted by going online at midnight, or waiting to see what the CMs can come up with? I will be looking for a few tough ones like Le Cellier, Boma, and Ohana. Last year I got everything i wanted (except Le Cellier) by booking myself and I am so nervous as there are so many people that will be making ADRs on this day...

Thank you to the person that organized this thread. It is very helpful!

I was wondering if anyone has been on the excursion at the animal kingdom. I clicked on the link but I was looking for more info. What time of day is this held? Do you have to buy park tickets to the AK to get in?

We are only planning on doing Epcot and MK this trip and this would be a fun way to see the animals without having to spend a whole day at AK :)

Could you share your experience on this excursion? Thanks for your help!

Welcome :grouphug: to this wonderful thread!

CL is wonderful and one of the best perks is that the concierge staff will make all your dining ressies for you. I would just call or email them and send them your requests. Just like magic you will get your itenerary back.

As for the safari's offered you would be talking about the evening one... that one is very nice and is done at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, viewing their animals, so no park admission is needed. The Sunrise Safari is for CL guests of AKL and is at the Animal Kingdom and does require a ticket.

Both are wonderful experiences!

The Wildlife Discovery Excursion is given twice a day, I believe Tues thru Sat. You do need park admission to go on it. You meet at the gift shop and are taken back stage to your van. We have only done the 10:00 AM one, but there is also one in the afternoon, at 1:30 or 2:00, sorry don't remember the exact time. It is awesome. You go out on the savanna in a 14 passenger van with an animal care CM. They pull off the road several times so you can get a closer look at the animals and get some great pictures. Lots of great information about the animals and since it is such a small group you will have ample time to ask as many questions as you want. We have done this twice and will definately do it again.

I always have IPO make my ADR's for me. Just send them an e-mail or call before your booking window opens. They will make them as soon as your window opens and send you an e-mail with your itinerary.

I completely forgot about those. I was referring to this one. Sorry.

"Wanyama" Safari. Up to 12 people ride in a specially designed van around the lodge's savannas! Learn about the animals and animal management at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The van stops and you get lots of photo opportunities of the animals and birds. An animal guide is on the van with you to offer information and answer questions.

Afterwards, you have a wonderful dining experience at Jiko.
The entire experience lasts about 3 hours.

Thanks for the info on the animal excursions. Something I will definitely consider.

Another question for y'all: Have any of you booked your vacation through a travel agent? I asked WDW to put a security question on my account, and not one CM has ever asked me so I talked to a manager tonight and she suggested that I switch over my ressie to a travel agent. I was wondering if this changes things with IPO, or if I can still talk to IPO on my own without having to go through a travel agent?

I have booked CL stays through a travel agent. Actually, my upcoming CL stay is booked through Dreams Unlimited. You can still talk to the IPO without going through your travel agent, that's no problem. :)

We booked a Grand Floridian outer lodge club level room. Just a few questions...
1- Can you use the sugar loaf and royal palm club or are you assigned to just one?
2- Where are the rooms located?
3- Does anyone have a story to share about staying in an outer lodge room?
Thanks so much.:flower3:

That sounds very nice too. Is this open to everyone or just AKL guests?

You can still use IPO if you have a TA. I have a great TA who gets me the best discounts and makes sure my room requests get to the right people. I have IPO book my ADR's and any tours. Your TA can also book those too except the WDE, but I figure that I am paying for the services of IPO I may as well use them.

All outer lodge CL rooms are in Sugar Loaf. You will only have access to the SL lounge. The lounge and CL CM desk is in the lobby.

All of the rooms in SL are considered GV. You will have either a marina view or a courtyard view. Both are very nice.
