This thread is meant to be fun and humorous;) ...

We have stayed in concierge at several Disney deluxe resorts. Our most recent stay was less than favorable at the GF/RPC. While many of you have had excellent vacations, this thread is an attempt to understand the bad trips. Based upon our experience, and those that many of you have reported, I think that I have figured out Disney's master strategy...;)

Obviously, one of Disney's main goals is to sell DVC memberships. DVC information booths are EVERYWHERE at WDW. Many of the guests who stay in concierge can afford to join the DVC. So...(this is the humorous part;) )...Disney trains their concierge CMs to treat their guests so poorly that they flee their resorts! Those same guests are addicted to Disney (I am speaking from personal experience here;) ), and they still need their fix, so they try a villa. Villas are great because they are spacious, offer no concierge services and the guest avoids the usual housekeeping problems (as many of you have reported recently at the GF!) The guest is thrilled/relieved with the villa, and then joins the DVC, providing Disney with lots of $$$!

Actually, I am know this from personal experience because we just joined the DVC at the BC!

Pam OKW - Thanks for all of the great information that you provide on the DVC board. It really helped us to make our decision!:)

That is too funny! I think that there may be some truth there though! Our concierge stays have been very interesting to say the least!

By the way, Congrats and Welcome Home!

Too funny!! Actually we have been DVC members since 1991 and are going for our first concierge experience next week. Should be interesting. Even though we are DVC members we also stay a lot as "regular" guests in all Disney resorts. We never tell the staff we are DVC members, just go with the flow and watch how the CMS treat us. I especially like it when we stay at DVC resorts as non-DVC members, just paying guests. Thanks for the laugh!!

MJS, I wanted to add:

WELCOME HOME!!!!!

Somehow I can't seem to get the edit button right!!!??

MJS, you are too funny! We actually took the DVC tour while staying at the Poly Concierge, but after being insulted by our guide, we happy went back to the "not so nice" Poly Concierge staff that didn't seem so bad after that!

Yikes! Sorry that you were insulted by your guide. I remember your Poly experience, so the guide must have been really rude! That is not a great way to sell the DVC!

Have you thought any more about staying over on our side of town or are you going back to the GF? :)

That guide told us we'd be better off at the Comfort Inn on I-Drive paying $29 a night. Dad was ready to buy 350-400 points at Boardwalk when we went over, but we left with only a brochure and a voucher for a free lunch at ESPN for each of us. If you want the guides name, I'd be more than happy to give it to you. She was (at that time) a "Senior Vacation Guide" - she said she'd been there since the beginning.

Yep, I think we will be at an Epcot Resort next time - not my choice, of course (when I don't have to pay, I don't get *too* much say in where we stay! And, I'm not sure how I can talk "them" into the GF, unless I point out what wonderful customer service we received and try to "ride" on that one). It'll probably be the Yacht Club, possibly the Beach Club or BoardWalk Inn. :)

DineyMim- They'll know if you belong to DVC if they have to pull up you're name in the computer. You'll be amazed what they have. I had a cousin who had a bad experience at the GF and they joined DVC. A few months later we stopped at one of the booths to make an appointment. When I gave my cousin's name as a reference, they pulled up his name and there was a history of all there stays including the problems they had at the GF as they related it. I asked if they had details on all quests like this and he said yes.

When we bought, the guide was inputing info into the computer and he read back our telephone number. He never asked for it. I asked how he knew it. He said if you are or ever stayed here they have it.

LOL. It's so hard to believe though. I am not doubting you had a bad experience or that they don't occur, but I can just not imagine it! Everytime we stay at the YC Concierge we are treated like royalty; maybe it's luck!

We had a great stay at the YC concierge, and thought that they did a great job. As I said above, this thread is an attempt to understand the bad stays. My recent stay at the GF, as well as numerous comments on the boards from other GF/RPC guests, caused me to wonder what is really going on at WDW. I just tried to come up with a humorous answer ;) .

Thanks for sharing your comments!

I agree with MJS. The services provided in concierge right now seemed very mixed in terms of quality. There are too many reports each week on these boards of problems IMHO.

Thanks again for the laugh!
