i know you can’t use a placeholder to book concierge, but if you fully book concierge while onboard, do you get OBC? Thinking about concierge for next year’s cruise, but not sure if I should book now or wait till next time I’m onboard.

The onboard booking information sheet says the offer of 10% reduction of fare, onboard credit (based on how low the cruise is), and reduced deposit on 7 night and longer cruises is:

"Not valid for Concierge-level categories".

So I'd say "no".

Technically, you can convert a placeholder to a Concierge booking. You’ll get OBC but no other perk. I did it once since I knew my placeholder would expire before I would sail non-Concierge again. It served as part of my deposit.

For those who have sailed concierge, do you usually book onboard, through TA or through DCL direct?

Because booking onboard doesn't get you 10% concierge (if it did, then we would), we use Costco. The 8% cash back on a cash card is nice (plus another 2% for our membership reward). And I have found their agents to be very good.

I do the same. I have heard you could use the Red Card Disney GC trick to get 5% because I heard they will take them. But I would highly recommend merging them together.

I book onboard for the $200 onboard credit, and name Costco as the TA. With the price of the Concierge rooms, it really pays off to get the 8.5% of your cruise cost as a Costco cash card. I also upgraded to the executive membership and the 2% additional return at the end of the year. The Cash card alone pays for more than the upgraded membership.

Our next 2 cruises with only 2 people in the cabin, we get a Costco Cash card for $1045 and an additional $220 at the end of the year.

If not booking onboard I book directly with DCL on opening day to get the specific cabin I want, then transfer it to Costco.

If you use Costco's credit card you also get 3% back for travel.

So then you are getting 13.5% back. Ive read about people using the Target card to get some % off Disney gift cards. Its an extra step... but at the cost of these cruises....
