While in WDW a week or so ago we fell in love with the WL and planned on staying there on our next trip (next year). BUT while doing investigating I've decided concierge might be in the budget and the way to go. I've been looking into it and have found little on concierge at WL and tons on how wonderful Poly Concierge is. What all can you tell me? I have a DS 9 and DD 7 if that matters. Would concierge be better than say adding the Silver pkg or are we talking apples vs oranges?

Thanks,

Kalen

We have done both, and while I love WL, the Poly wins hands down when it comes to concierge.

The WL concierge is not a full concierge. This was explained to me by the Polynesian Island Planning office who takes care of the Polynesian Concierge because they handle calls and emails for the WL concierge since they do not staff a full concierge like the other deluxe resorts with concierge do. I also have been told that the food offerings are very limited in comparison to the other concierge levels. This may be why you have not heard much about the WL concierge.

Aloha

Thanks Steve and btw I love your website. It told me all things Poly and fully answered all my Poly concierge and Poly questions in general. I also had DH read the concierge part so he could get an idea as to what I am looking at.

I think I am taking this whole thing a bit too serious as I was having dreams last night and every time I woke up (which was often) I was thinking "silver or concierge". It's going to be a long year of planning I'm afraid LOL.

Thanks again to all of you for the great info.

We just got back from Poly concierge. It was a great trip! The lounge is wonderful. The location of the building is perfect. If you can afford to, get a lagoon view room.

We have dd5 and dd7 with us. The food offerings were very nice for both adults and children. Don't forget to ask for chocolate milk or pretty much anything else you might want. They'll get it for you.

I would recommend bringing zip lock bags to take some snack things into the parks with you. I found that I missed that alot! we also would bring cans of soda to our room and ice them down so we wouldn't have to go to the loung when the girls wanted a drink.

If you eat a nice lunch, you really won't have to buy breakfast or dinner if you plan on being around the hotel that much. We found that we ate plenty witht he evening food offerings to not want dinner also. But, we are all light eaters and ate big lunches.

We loved the Poly. The pool is wonderful!
Have a great trip and don't stress too much over the planning. I was the same way!

WL is full concierge. We just stayed there again in May.

All of the rooms are located on the 7th floor. They have rooms with 2 queens, 1 queen and a bunk, 4 honeymoon suites and Vice-Presidential and Presidential Suites.

The food offerings were similar to what we have experienced at other WDW hotels. Breakfast usually conists of struedel, bagels, muffins, cereals, juice, coffee, mixed fruit (at WL it is small chunks and not a platter of sliced fruit.)

Mid-day offerings are pretzels, nuts, cookies, gummy bears, iced tea, lemonade, soda, croissants, etc.

5-7pm has cheese, crackers, breads, marinated veggies, pb and j uncrustables, fruit, soda, one hot entree and a hot soup selection. On the nights we were there they offered BBQ ribs, chicken noodle soup, chili, chicken with rice and some other things I am forgetting.

In the evening they usually offer berry cobbler or apple crisp, cookies, brownies, individual sized desserts that change on a regular basis along with many cordials and other beverages.

The desk is staffed fro 7am-10pm.

The only difference is there is no real lounge. The balcony area overlooking the lobby is where the concierge food offerings are located. The view is amazing and they have recently added more seating.

I can't say which one I like better because we have never been to Poly concierge but we did enjoy our stay at WL CL again. We are going to try some other resorts in the Fall.

We were in room 7042 that had an awesome view of the castle and Wishes, then we moved to the Yosemite Suite which also had an awesome view of the courtyard and Bay Lake and we also spent one night in 7117 that had a courtyard view.

Good luck with your decision. I was less than impressed with certain members of the IPO staff for WL and Poly. They often gave incorrect information and forgot things. Maybe this has changed.

Thanks for the great WL info. Now I am torn again. What to choose what to choose.

I have actually stayed in both. 2nd floor Poly garden view concierge and Room 7044 WL last year.

Poly has the great lounge with the incredible view of the castle and is a stone's throw to both pools and the dock. Location is really impossible to beat.

The WL setting is just as described. Not a lounge and no real view.

The difference is two fold tow me. The WL staff at concierge was muc nicer and seemed more available. The Poly lounge was on the second floor so I often never really saw th e conceirge staff. I had numerous interacts with the WL staff and they made our trip great.

The second difference is the food offerings. Poly offers pan-Asian and Poly food (shock0 while the WL food is from Artist point and more hardy. If you are after the food, take your pick and noew what you will get.

My family, especially my wife, loved WL, even more than Poly. WL and the setting on the seventh fllor felt more relaxed and peaceful. Poly felt more up and less relaxing.

Poly rooms are noticeably larger. Plus transport was easier.

WL is typically cheaper.

We have stayed at both Poly and WL concierge. It is really hard to say which concierge service I liked better, because I thought both were great. The food IMO was great at both resorts. I think if you're looking for the whole lounge experience, Poly is for you. The only difference for me was that WL did not have a lounge. WL was really high on my list of favorite resorts (after BWI/V) until we stayed at the Poly. That place is just wonderful. It really felt like a resort vacation instead of a Disney vacation.

This is a good dilemma to have, isn't it?!

DD and I stayed Poly CL in April of this year, we had a LV room. Ohhhh, that view was fantastic!! If you want a gorgeous view of the Castle, then the Poly is the place to be. And if you need to save a little, you can get a great GV room and still have a beautiful view from the floor-to-ceiling glass in the lounge! An incredible view of MK, CR and the GF!! And the location of the Hawaii bldg. is great, so close to both pools and the boat dock, short walk to the GCH.

We are getting ready to try the WL CL next month, so I don't know how they compare, yet. But I'm sure we'll have another enjoyable stay in the Magic!!::yes::

The WL also has tea and muffins, etc in the afternoon. My inalws stayed up there during our Thanksgiving trip and we went up there twice to see what all the fuss was. It seemed VERY relaxing and quiet. Both times the staff greeted us as we exited the elevator. According to our inlaws, the food was good and plentiful. This was over Thanskgiving weekend. The Poly concierge was high on my list for my upcoming trip (finally setteld on CSR), but I just kept thinking that the resort was too "hectic" for me. DH and I went to Ohana one night (during a "not busy" time) and the atmsophere could only be described as "beautfiul, but frantic". People were running back and forth constantly. We stayed at the WL over Thanksgiving and you would have never known it was a hoilday! We just came back from a weekend at the BC and while the location was great and the pool, etc.... there was a lot of foot traffic that you don't get at the moderates or WL or AKL. Maybe it's just me. I like things a little more "peaceful" on vacation.
