Hi everyone- Our family, two adults and two children 10 and 6 will be staying at the Polynesian at the end of January. We have a Magic Kingdom view. My husband is now saying he wants to stay concierge because he thinks the views will be better. Is it better to stay concierge for the view or should we just stick with the Magic Kingdom view? Any suggestions would be most welcome. Also, what longhouse if not concierge would you stay at. I am leaning toward Tahiti but am still up in the air. Thanks for any help.

From what I have read to get a Magic Kingdom view in the Hawaii Longhouse which is where you would stay if doing Club Level service at the Polynesian are not that bad. Technically they are not sold as Magic Kingdom views, so you would have to book a Club Level Lagoon View and I think it those rooms come with a view of Cinderella's Castle. However it's not a clear view of the Cinderella's Castle that you would get when you compare it to the Magic Kingdom View in the Contemporary Tower, because that is a true Magic Kingdom View room. Plus I think the Hawaii Longhouse is the best located Longhouse since it's close to the beach, which is why the Lagoon View's of the Castle are good to have.

From looking at one of the maps it looks like Tahiti has the best views of the Castle. Am I correct?

Based on the info I sent you - if you look at the actual MK room views from Tahiti (especially like the view of the photo from room 1033) I would agree as far as non-concierge rooms. Tahiti is farther from the GCH though, but closer to TTC, so that also might make a difference to you :)

With that said though, if my DH told me that he thought we should be in club/level concierge instead I would agree 100% and be on the phone soooo fast to upgrade  Love, love, love the Poly concierge! The kids would enjoy it as much or more than the adults too....

Not all of the LVC rooms have a castle view, but a lot of them do. Of course the lounge has a great view, and they pipe in the music for the fireworks, so even a GVC is a good choice :thumbsup2

Thanks for all your answers. I am still researching. We like to be able to sit out on our balcony or patio at night. Is it true the second floor rooms do not have balconies? Is the lounge on the second floor and can you see the fireworks from the lounge. Sorry for all the questions. My husband just wants to make sure we will be able to see the fireworks and boat show from our room or at least from the lounge.

Yes it's true the 2nd floor rooms do not have a balcony or patio and when my parents and I went to visit the lounge back in August, it was on the 2nd floor and you could see the fireworks from there.

here is the view:

That view looks wonderful. It makes me want to go right now. Is that the view from the lounge or your room?

The view from the lounge or third floor balcony looks like the one in Cara's picture:). We've also loved the first floor patio where we had a patio and could walk out onto the beach! It's true the second floor rooms have no balcony but are on the same floor as the lounge.

I'm also curious how the views from Tahiti compare to those from Hawaii, so keep those opinions coming.

We love the Hawaii bldg and you will too!

Ditto Jamal.

We loved the view from our 1st floor room at Poly concierge in June. It was great to let the kids wander out to chase the ducks (and annoy the neighbors). Highlight was the eves when the 2 oldest (6 and 5) would watch the electrical parade and fireworks from the lawn or beach while the 2 youngest hit the sack.
Bonus was that Neverland club was right there for the kids when we went out.
Did NOT like Mousekeeping at Poly 6/07. Hopefully they will improve.

Concierge lounge was great for us to provide juice and snacks, if not entire meals for my kids. After heat and ice cream, they would not touch anything too heavy anyway. Healthy and kid friendly choices available.

Good luck!

We loved the GVC room that we were pixie dusted with! The fireworks from the concierge lounge were just amazing. The best part of being in a garden view room was waking up to find ducks, bunnies, and squirrels playing ourside of our patio doors. I can't wait to get back to the Poly again one day. We had such a great time there. I am a firm believer now that there is no such thing as a bad room in the Poly. Maggie

Has anyone ever stayed in Tahiti as well as concierge and how is the view in Tahiti compared to concierge. Also, what do you think my chances are of getting 1st or 3rd floor lagoon view at the end of January (25th-Feb 2). Again, sorry for all the questions just trying to narrow down our decision.

I would think you'd have a pretty good chance at getting the area you want in that time frame. But one thing to consider is all you really can do is request a certain area, they won't guarentee specific room number wise. We always stay concierge Poly MK view and honestly have never gotten a bad view. We prefer the 3rd floor because of the balconies as we love sitting there in the evenings. We had friends staying in Tahiti this past August and they had a wonderful view, but IMO it was'nt anything better or worse then ours....just minus the concierge service. No matter what you decide I have no doubt you'll be very happy!

You are not entirely correct. I've stayed both on the 14th floor of the CR in a MK view room, and three times at the PR in LV CL rooms. While the view from the 14th floor of the MK is spectacular, it's a sideways looking view, so you don't get the full effect of looking straight on at the castle, and the fireworks were created to be seen straight on for the best view.

OP--Here's the REAL scoop on CL LV rooms at the Polynesian from someone who has actually stayed there. Some of them are better than others. Some have obstructed views due to trees.

You want to book one of the first three rooms on the third floor closest to the lounge and elevators to get the best view. The first and second floor have nice views as well, but the first floor we had problems with idiots taking our patio furniture down to the beach, and it's not terribly private. The second floor rooms don't have a balcony, although it will probably be too cold in late January to really want to use the balcony anyhow.

As another poster pointed out, from the Hawaii Building you'll also have a wonderful view of the nightly electrical water pageant, something you don't get from the MK view rooms at the CR.

All of that aside, here is my opinion. I will no longer spend the money for CL at WDW--except maybe the AKL. The prices have gotten absurd and the service levels have dropped to the point that it's just not worth it. I would book a guaranteed MK view at the Polynesian, IMHO that IS "worth it," it's truly magical to watch the castle change colors at night. :goodvibes

going to the lounge for the castle view. Our room was right next to the door to the lounge [we were third floor]....

It was GREAT.

IMHO I would rather be garden level Concierge than lagoonview nonconcierge.

Thanks. Now I just have to see how much extra the concierge sevice would be over a Magic Kingdom room. Again, thank you all for your answers. I know whether we stay Magic Kingdom view or concierge we will have a great time.

meant to put it in my post...

I looked before I responded and it's $50 more than MK view.

Regular Rates
GV $385
LV $480
GVC $530
LV/Suite C $650
2B S C $1375

If I were paying I would just go GV and ask for Tahiti or Tokleau

But since you were willing to pay $95 more for LV, I'd rather go $50 more than that and get a nice continental breakfast, unlimited drinks, snacks, appetizers alcoholic drinks [beer wine mixed drinks, a premade fruity drink] desserts and after dinner drinks [baileys, brandy, etc.] and enjoy the view from the lounge. It's a 2-story window and they dim the lights for the water pageant and fireworks.

The coffee machine is nice. You can get espresso, latte, regular coffee, etc.
