...it's a little early, and I feel guilty even thinking about my trip as others are digging out of such a horrible situation. That said, I'm wondering if we should reconsider our plans to drive from Dallas to Orlando two days before Thanksgiving. We drove it in March and took I-20 to Jackson, MS (bypassing the New Orleans, Biloxi area of I-10) 49 down to 98 and 98 to I-10.

Does anyone have knowledge of road outages in between Jackson and Mobile? Or, bridge trouble in Mobile/Pensacola area?

I am also wondering we leave on Friday! We take the same route you are speaking of. I am hoping we can get there. Any updates on the area would be appreciated.

I was just looking at the map. I think we will go as far east as Columbus, GA and then start heading down and connect up with 75 into Orlando.

The news the last couple of days in Georgia has shown bridge outages in Mobile and New Orleans. Definately contact the DOT in the states you are thinking of going through. I am going in two days and worried about gas shortages in the Southeast due to refinaries not working due to no power.

Are we still going to be able to get gas in Columbus GA? Any problems there. The only problems we are hearing is gas problems in MS. We are going to fill up before we get to MS and hopefully will not need gas again until Alabama.

There are no problems in Georgia yet. I am wondering about Flordia. Lt. Gov has asked people to conserve energy and gas. Will keep checking.
