Hello-

I received my documents for or upcoming cruise and was scheduled to be in a GTY 8. While we are still in a Cat 8 cabin.... it is a handicap room. We do not need a handicap room. I feel very uncomfortable in a way accepting this room. I know Disney would not assign the cabin if somebody needed it.

MY questions are has anyone every stayed in a HC cabin when it was not needed?

How does it compare to a non handicap cabin? How is it different?

Does cabin 6500 have a porthole still? I see that the two cabins right before it are a different cat.
I appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance

We were assigned a handicapp room on an upgrade. It was more spacious than the regular cabins. Overall - I loved the room. My only complaint - mind you it wasn't really a complaint as we were upgraded -- was the shower was a roll in shower and we kept flooding the bathroom floor.

Yes you should have a porthole. If you look at a picture of the ship, you will see a port hole on Deck 6 that is infront of this little hump. That is your room

We had a handicap room on our last cruise and it was HUGE. It was so perfect for our DS who was almost 2.
Here is the link to our shutterfly album, on the last page are 2 pictures of the room album

Hello, my DH and I stayed in cabin 6500 last years. We were upgraded from GTY cat 11. It was just the two of us. There was so much room in this cabin. We had a large portwhole. The bathroom is not a split bath. It is a single bath with a walk in shower no tub. It was I guess not split to open it up more for handicap access. I am sure Disney only assigned it to us after they were sure there was no need for it by a person who really needed it. Go enjoy it and have fun.

Our friends are onboard the Magic this week and they only booked 3 weeks ago. They were assigned an inside handicapped room on Deck 7. We spoke to them onboard on Saturday via cell phone and they said the room was larger than the normal rooms. DCL had told them that the handicapped room was not needed for anyone else that week.

You should not feel uncomfortable about accepting this room. As you said DCL would not have assigned it to you if it was needed for someone else. Enjoy your extra space.

I have never stayed in a handicap room, however you shouldn't feel bad about staying there. I am sure that if someone booked last minute that needed it, they would move you to the same cat. or give you an upgrade. Enjoy yourself! And from what I have seen in pictures those room are very spacious!
