The last time I was we did concierge I got scolded for using Guest Services, our concierge host seemed to take it as a personal insult.
The thing is GS was RIGHT there, and we would have had to go up several decks to get to the concierge desk. So what is the best way to handle this? Can we just call Concierge and have them deliver something to our room?

I'd forget about it and use GS again if it's more convenient. I suspect that both (i) concierge hosts don't want you to use GS because they may get criticism if concierge guests are going there and (ii) GS wants to deal with the passengers who don't have access to concierge hosts to do things. If GS is right there and doesn't have a line, just use it and perhaps mention you would normally use concierge but happened to be nearby.

Don’t worry about what the hosts say. Use GS if it’s more convenient. But you certainly call the hosts from your room. I don’t think you can find a direct dial button on the public phones elsewhere on the ship so you should ask the hosts for their extension.

Yes you can call them. If I remember correctly you just dial 54 from any ship phone.

I'd be pretty angry and have a hard time not expressing my displeasure if I got "scolded" for something like that after paying concierge prices. A simple reminder from the concierge team would yield an explanation that I was right there and there was no line so it was the more convenient option for me but a scolding would get a much different response.

I've used GS for small things a few times when sailing Concierge. As others mentioned, sometimes it more convenient to stop by GS if there's no line. If I had an issue or request that needed a little extra assistance, I'd definitely ask a Concierge host.

If I remember correctly, I needed a navigator (we had misplaced ours) and to know the port time for the next day.
This was before the App when all you had were the navigators.

The Concierge host was out of line to say anything.

I agree. For something like this if I had felt reprimanded, I would have went over the host's head and complained. Others may think of this as a small slight and NBD but for people like the OP that are carrying this concern years later it is a big deal. Those that feel comfortable standing up for themselves should, if for nothing else than to help others that might not be comfortable.

On our first cruise, we stopped by GS for something, but I can't remember what. Later the host on duty asked us if everything was ok. We said yes and they said we could use them for anything GS would do. We honestly didn't know so that is why we stopped downstairs. I can't imagine them chastising anyone, but they did want to make sure we knew that they were available for anything we might need. I guess, if I tried, I could have seen it as being scolded.

We were told that by going to GS we could put their job in jeopardy - and to never do it again.

Darlin that was five years ago - I don't remember anymore - all I know is it was one of the 2 that wasn't the one who checked us in on the first day.

Out of curiosity, which host told you that? You can PM me if you want.
