This is a problem at "work" (how weird that is for me to write!!)...anyway......we get emails from companies with different prints of parts. This one person sends them over....I open the attachment and it opens windows picture and fax viewer. We have XP at work, which I am not really familiar with.

Anyway, the images come through as "tiffs" and they take FOREVER to open up. Half the time the program just freezes and I have to restart the computer. They have more than enough RAM and hard drive space. I am just wondering what else can be done to help this along??? Could I "disable" the pic and fax viewer and then another program would automatically open the images??? I don't want to screw everything up for them.

Kinda wondered if the person who is sending the images is sending them through the pic and fax viewer....

Do I HAVE to use Window pic and fax viewer in other words???

Anyone familiar with this?? Thanks..

Lisa

Well, you could open Paint (Start--> Programs --> Accessories) and try that. Just remember that TIFF's are usually very large. Is there a way that you could save the attachment locally or to the network first, then open it up? That may help.

If you have a low amount of RAM, it may not matter what type of application you are using to open up the image. It may be slow anyway.

Hope that helps!
