I keep getting an error when I try to access certain sites.

400 Bad Syntax
The request appears to be improperly formatted.
Found error in this section of the request: GET / HTTP/1.1 Accept: image/gif, image/x-xbitmap, image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, application/msword, application/x-shockwave-flash, */* Accept-Language: en-us ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~: ~~~~~ ~~~~~~~ User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) Host: www.alton.madison.k12.il.us Connection: Keep-Alive

Is anyone familiar with this and how to correct it? I know it is my computer because other people can access this site. I have even had them send me the liink and I get the same message.

You might want to download AD AWARE 6.0.

You can find more information about it from this website:

Once you download it, install it and run it. You probably have some hidden spyware that is causing a conflict on your hard drive.

I have adaware already loaded, but I didn't think to run it. It didn't solve the problem though. Thanks so much for responding though. Anyone have any other ideas?

Hi Toodles. I did a bit of googling and here are a couple of things I found.

Syntax is the order in which words and phrases are put together, such as a URL (web address) which consists of several phrases that are strung together to define a location or service on the Internet. A syntax error occurs when a user (or programmer) has put words in an order that a program does not understand. A syntax error while surfing the Web may be caused by a mistyped or inadvertently rearranged URL, making it incomprehensible to a web browser.

400 - Bad request
This error message indicates that the server can't figure out the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) you requested. The problem often occurs because of incorrect URL syntax. If you typed the URL, check it for incorrect uppercase or lowercase letters, colons, and slashes. Try to type the URL again. If you still get an error, try to backtrack the URL to the directory the document resides in. If the error message persists, there may be a problem with the document. Your only recourse is to contact the site's administrator.

I guess I would really examine your URL...the one you keep using to see if it has a teensy tiny problem somewhere in it.
Maybe click on the link that you posted here and see if you can link to the site you want that way.

Thanks, HauntedMansionGeek, but I've tried that. The problem is other people can reach it from this link. I have a few others just like it. I'm thinking there might be some setting in IE that is wrong, but I've tried restoring the default settings and that doesn't work either.
