we've been having trouble with our internet explorer.

I could never put anything in the address line to go to a program some ads filled up the whole screen and there was no way to "X" out of them

well my DH did a couple of recovery things and put ad-aware that I run quite a few times while Im on.

things were running great for a couple of days but now I get about 5 -6 pop-ups all at once and I have to be fast to get something in the address line

any ideas what could be going on

and how to stop these pop-ups

thanks

you need to be very basic since im bad with computers

but Im learning alot

thanks

happy Friday everyone

I am no help at all when it comes to this stuff, but Mal is our resident computer tech on the Rewards Board!! :) I hope you get it fixed soon!!

Here are a few sites for free downloads that I use and haven't had any "major" problems.

http://www.grisoft.com for AdAware v. 6.181 must be build 181 this is for spyware removal

http://www.lavasoft.com for ZoneAlarm, this is a great, free firewall

http://www.panicware.com for popup blocking

with these 3 working together, they do a very good job. Please let me know if you need help, it will take a while to get your system clean, but once running fine again, these are great.

Also, running a system defrag every now and again will help speed up performance. Also periodically cleaning out temp files in IE under Tools, Options will help too.

since you never replied to my question I am going to assume you do not have a firewall and antivirus and give you the info on the virus I think has infected your computer....

Actually what Adaware finds will not be the root of your problem.

Until you get and run an antivirus and remove the virus you are still going to be having problems.

Also the more you surf the net with this virus on your computer the more chance you have of picking up more virus'.

Again let me suggest you update your antivirus software or buy a new one. Then download and install HIJACK this and run it. Then Post scan here.

Why don't you read these posts they might help.
