computer help please!! anyone familiar with .wps files??

A friend of mine is over right now trying to read a floppy he copied at school for homework........it is coming up as a .wps file.....I have win98. IE6........it is not letting me open it.....is there a trick???

This is a microsoft word processor file. You will need to open it in either Micrsoft "Word" or "Works" word processor depending on the format!!

I'm no "guru" by a long shot, but I believe that's correct.

it sounds like you dont have the program installed on your pc that the file is associated with.

How was the file created? What program was used?

It might be too late but try opening it in Works by using the drop down bar where it says recover text from any (something). The recover word is whats important. It opened some stuff that we never could get into using other stuff. Good luck!

Thanks everyone....they just left....BUT

1) we got it to open opening with word....but what he wanted or had to do with it didn't/wouldn't work

2) I think we need to have "works"...which I don't. When he downloaded/copied the file from school was from works...and we don't have it so I think that is why he couldn't edit and do what he was suppose to do to the file

Here's some advice if don't have the program at home always save the file as .txt file and shoulld be able to bring it up in works word, notepad or wordpad and word processor.

Also try to bring the file up in notepad or wordpad it made work.
