I know SOOOO many people who have had a problem with the reparis dept. at CompUSA and my DD had an AWFUL experience there.. She brought in her laptop - which was in PERFECT condition - except there was a CD stuck in the disk drive.. Well - it was still under warranty (she had purchased it there) so they said they needed to "send it out" for repairs (I believe all of the repairs are shipped elsewhere).. Three weeks later they call and say that it's going to cost $194 because it has obviously been "dropped", there is a part hanging off the back, and several other damages as well.. This laptop was in perfect condition when they brought it it.. Right now my son-in-law is still fighting with them and threatening to take them to small claims court if they don't fix EVERYTHING for free or give her a new one..
So - if you MUST take it there, INSIST that they write on the repair order slip EXACTLY what condition your item is in.. Otherwise, it may get damaged in transit and they will insist that it was in that condition when you brought it in..
