Anyone know where I can get composition notebooks for the best price? I am a teacher and need them for my whole class. This is an expense I have to pay on my own, so I need it to be as economical as possible.

Thanks!!

I know things related to school supplies are different in different states. So - I have a (State of Wisconsin) answer for you: why can't the students provide this?

Then - the really cheap person in me needs to ask - will they REALLY be using a substantial part of this book? I've purchased my fair share of them, and the kids used maybe 10 sheets total in the book.

Sorry - to answer your question - I have no idea what where school supplies are on sale. DD (now a senior) won't have any info on needed school supplies until school starts on Thursday.

I saw them today at Target for only 40 cents, they were on clearance 30% off.

They do use the whole book. We are not allowed to ask parents to buy them. I know it's a weird rule. Most schools give you a list of supplies to buy for your student. This is a school with mostly low income kids/parents and the administrators feel that it would create a hardship on the parents to have to buy school supplies. :)

I would suggest Target, or maybe office max or staples.

I just found a listing on amazon, 48 books for $65 and free shipping. That's a little over a dollar per book.

looks like I'll head to walmart tomorrow. that's a great price!!

Wal Mart had them for 40 cents AND they weren't the plain, old "marble" composition books -- these ones were "designer" with either stipes, checks, circles, or zig zags. They were pretty cool looking. I bought some for myself, too.

Yes Walmart - but hurry over - i got a bunch at Walmart but b4 that i couldn't find them anywhere seem people purchase early so at first i bought them at Wegmans - $1 each!

our local Target had them for $0.17 Saturday I bought 25 of them because I know my ds's teacher next year buys them for her students so I figured I'd donate them for next year

I wish more people would do things like this! In my daughters' school, a lot of time the kids' school supplies will go missing from their desks - and often end up in the desk of a child who, just the day before, didn't have markers, or a box of crayons or whatever the missing supplies are. I try to buy a bunch of stuff when it goes on clearance - you know, crayons for 10 cents or a pack of pencils for a nickel. Then not only can I stock up our school supply closet at home, but I can also afford to give the teachers some supplies. $5 worth of supplies from 6 or 7 parents is sure a lot easier than the teacher spending $30 or $40 of her own money.

A sad note - when my oldest started third grade last week, she was the only child in her class of 19 to bring in all of the required school supplies. She said some of the kids only had paper and pencils. Sigh. But I bet their parents' had their cell phone bills paid.

Target is at 30% off now and when they go to 75% which shouldn't be too long, they will be cheap and they usually have a lot of those left.

that is so very nice and thoughtful of you.

I had saw this thread and didn't know a good answer. After visiting Target this morning I thought about this thread and was looking for it to come tell you! But someone else has already mentioned it! Target's school supplies are at 30% off now!
