Complimentary refrigerator @ Value resorts!

And, the Art of Animation resort had nothing to do with Pop, it doesn't have Pop in the name either, they are 2 completely different resorts. Most of the rooms there wil be Family Suites, so a fridge is included. I haven't heard about the non-suite rooms.

My bad. I still have the Pop expansion in mind. In fact, I don't think I even knew until yesterday that they had scrapped the Pop name for the building. I'm just glad they are finally doing something. It was so depressing looking!

I'm not going to be much help- we leave in 10 days and when we get to Pop we have requested a fridge for medical need, which is no charge anyway. But I would like to know if this is standard because that'll save me from having to go through the trouble of requesting it. :goodvibes

I think that we often lose sight of the fact that Disney does do things like this for people without being made to. Too often I see complaint after complaint about Disney but things like a free fridge for medical needs goes unnoticed. Disney could easily have always charged for these fridges to medical needs just like they charge everyone else. Good looking out Disney! :thumbsup2

As much as I love the new Art of Animation I wish they would have continued the Legendary Years section and made AoA somewhere else. :( But... (glass half full, glass half full....) at least we have a new resort to use. :)

OH, me too. I really wanted the Legendary Years. Sigh... But at least they are fixing it so it doesn't look like a tenement.

That could have been the next big resort idea!! "Come and stay at Disney's Shanty Town Inn. One week here and you'll be begging for home." :)

I hope it's true - it would be great for everyone!

I will have to laugh though - we just broke down and bought a small fridge for our May trip so we'll only get 2 trips out of it. Oh well at least (assuming it's true) we won't have to haul the fridge down there again after this trip.

I just bought an elec. cooler to take. Thought it would be good to travel and great on site....If it is true it is going back and save $$$$
Although, I never was impressed with a Disney fridge after having a swaps:banana:

I just came back after staying in the All-Star Movies and there is a perfect spot for a fridge in the cabinet that the TV sits on. Coronado Springs has both a fridge and microwave (if memory serves) which would be nice to see in all rooms. We used a styrofoam cooler to hold some drinks and it was such a pain to have to drain it everyday and add new ice, but oh well.

We stayed at Coranado this summer yes on the fridge as it is a mod but no on the mocrowave.

This would obviously be great, but I would question why would they do it? No need to add a fridge to increase the number of guests, and it decreases the the value associated with higher level resorts (where the fridge is free). WDW is also in somewhat of a cost-cutting mentality ( no apps or tip included in DDP, no late night monorail service, etc.) . Hope it is true, but I'm not holding my breath.

My guess is manpower. It takes a lot of hassle to move rental fridges in and out of rooms, not to mention storing and moving swap fridges. Maybe they are having a hard time keeping up with demand and decided that as long as they were buying more fridges might as well put them everywhere. Also, when we've had a rental fridge in the past, it has just kind of sat in the corner looking ugly and not very Disney-like...this would let Disney make it part of the room design.

They haven't had the apprtizer or tip in the DDP since 2006, so that doesn't really count.

The free fridge we had at POP did have a tiny, tiny freezer. IDK if it was good enough to actually freeze something, but we brought bottles of frozen water and it held 2, and kept them frozen.

I doubt that Disney will be renovating all the value rooms just to incorporate a refrigerator into the decor. More than likely, the value fridges will be plunked in a corner spot where they will not be tripped over. Just like they always have.

Perhaps years from now, as rooms are being renovated, they might find a way to make the look more streamlined. But don't expect Disney to make it a top priority now.

We just came back from Movies as well and there is a location in the cabinet big enough for a fridge. So if they do it, it can be hidden in there. I like the idea of fridges, but not the idea of them if they use the idea of them to bump up the prices!

I have to have a fridge for medical reasons. It is usually very difficult for me to keep my medications FROM freezing! All medications have to be placed as close to the bottom (preferably on the door) as possible. If I place any liquids on the top shelf, they are frozen by morning.

I can't see needing a freezer just to freeze water.

They just renovated the dresser/tv combo last year at Pop. There is a section of it that to me looked like the ideal spot for a refridgerator on the bottom. May need to take out the shelf if it's a taller fridge.

Anyone else have the Mousekeepers keep moving the tissue box? I always put it down lower for my niece, otherwise she won't use them if she can't reach them. It was always moved back each day-maybe they get in trouble if it isn't a certain way. Kind of annoyed me as I was always having to move it every day for 14 days.
