At Disney now. We've been at the Poly DVC since Saturday and on paper are checking out Wednesday BUT we're actually leaving the Poly tomorrow afternoon to check into BWV while our niece stays in the Poly room to ride out the rest of that reservation. Just chatted quickly with the front desk CM about our plans and he indicated we are likely going to have a problem checking into the Boardwalk because our names will remain on the Poly reservation. Ugh! I told him we'd revisit this in the morning (too late tonight). Any suggestions? Can't my husband and I check out while my niece stays on the Poly reservation? The CM mentioned because the reservations are linked to "my Disney experience" problems will occur with our magic band reservations as well. Really? Help me help the front desk.... By the way, front desk at the Poly is the worst I've ever encountered. Minimal staffing, long lines. The DVC's here though....sweet!

Can they remove you from the poly rez and just leave your niece on it?

Yes, you'll have problems. When you check in, ask for a key card. It's likely your Magic bands won't work to unlock the room.

Would we have to keep the room key card for the duration of our BWV stay or only until the Poly reservation ends (which is tomorrow)?

In May, I had a girlfriend trip at BCV. Over the 5 night stay, one of my friends was in 2 different rooms, and her name was on both rooms, the one for only 2 nights (studio) and the one for 5 nights (2 bedroom). The front desk gave her a physical room key because her MB would not work with that situation.

Something can be done!

I was told as long as the "first/main" name on the reservation was different you can be on two reservations.

We had a situation where their were 4 of us in a room for the first night (of a five night reservation), then two of us moved to a second room (at the same resort) for the next four nights. Since all four were on the five night reservation for all five nights, the two that moved were shown as being in two different rooms for the last four nights. I asked MS if this would cause one of the reservation to be canceled, and was told that since the main name was different, the system would allow that to happen, and we could check into the second room even though we were still shown in the first room.

I want to know how this all works out. Do let us know.
We physically checked out of our room at the Poly leaving my niece's name on the ressie. Poly front desk could tell us our room was ready at the BWV and even gave us our BWV room number. She did some hocus locus and said according to what she could see, our magic bands were no longer linked to the Poly room. She suggested we head straight to our room at BWV- but we knew better. Front desk at BWV confirmed our Magic Bands were still linked to the Poly. He did some Mumbo Jumbo and reprogrammed our bands so we could access our BWV room. He also confirmed our AP's and fast passes were unaffected. I won't feel out of the woods though until my niece returns from Universal tonight and gets into her room without difficulty AND until we use our bands for park entry. Thanks for the info, as always.

Ah, see, I would have tried. :)

We once got a message that none of our keycards would work (as they were morphing into the new system but the bands weren't quite out yet) and to get back to the resort immediately to get them all changed over. So we went there, and used the "totally not working, can't get you in anywhere" cards to open the gate to get into the resort. Hmm. At least something was working on the cards... :)
