Complicated Epcot question?

Just figured out that Guardians is opening so Epcot is going to be bonkers! I have ressies to go to MK on Monday May 30th and then want to hop to Epcot for the extra magic hours. I was planning to spend most of my day at MK and hop over to get dinner at Epcot. I am sure Epcot will sell out of park ressies for the day but am wondering about hopping. I keep hearing it is ok to hop, but not sure it will work. What do you all think?

I am going to Epcot on Wed June 1st so I have a regular day there.

You should be fine. It did not close to hopping when Remy opened.

I think you'll be fine hopping to EPCOT on May 30.

It is very rare for a park to close to hoppers. It has occasionally happened on major holidays, but even then only for a few hours.

If it works like Remy, it will be virtual queue/LL which precludes anyone hopping from being able to ride unless they get an ILL.

Epcot rarely closes period. I've seen it on NYE, pretty much wall-to-wall people in World Showcase, and they were still letting people enter the park. It has a huge capacity. Plus, like OP mentioned, people probably won't be able to ride unless they get VQ or ILL.

Assuming GoTG goes VQ/ILL at least for the first few months you should be fine… if it goes Standby/ILL however I’d definitely call the hotline to double check if hopping is available before heading to the monorail or your preferred mode of transportation especially as it is a holiday

EPCOT is a very, very large park. It's built to handle crowds. It's a very rare day indeed that EPCOT sells out. It's happened, but not often.

You should be fine.

It is also likely that opening GotG would increase capacity. I don't know how DW determines capacity, but a few thousand people at Guardians will draw people from other areas, and should increase total capacity.

If it did close, you'd not even have to call, there'd be a sign up at the monorail. Though no way at all it will be more crowded than NYE. So no way it will close. At least that my opinion. Even Guardians isn't more popular than Epcot on NYE.

May 30 is not a Sorcerer blockout day. May 27 is and so are May 16 and 18-21. However, I agree with you and would probably go on May 30 since Pixie Dust and Pirate APs are both blocked out.

You should be just fine. As others have shared GotG will most likely be virtual queue and paid ILL$ which will pre-determine the number of people who can ride.

To date, the only park that has ever closed to hopping is the MK for a few hours on its 50th Anniversary. Epcot is a large park so it’s not anticipated to close for hopping.

I’m local. Dh and I are Sorcerer and ds is still Gold. We were able to get May 30 at Epcot.

I think those days are just full for the Sorcerers pass. Only the days around Thanksgiving and Christmas/ New Years are blacked out for Sorcerers Pass.

As of yesterday evening when I looked, Sorcerer wasn’t even full (the offsite AP bucket wasn’t full).
