Completely off camping topic....

Thanks for the Bday wishes. The down side is that when we go out to eat, them young whippersnappers give us the senior discount without asking.:rotfl2:First time we will be eating at trails end this trip, going to surprise DW with a anniversary cake! Upside is, since our kids are grown and we are small business owners and winter is our slow time, we are a lot more flexible of when and how long we can go.
O, and yes we are wearing celebrate buttons just to make the moral police on the theme parks boards mad.

There 'are' some upsides to being a senior citizen!! ;) Yep, flexibility is a 'big' one when you are retired.

Go for the birthday button!! When they were giving a 'free' day for your b'day, DH wore his button about half the day - couldn't take anymore of nearly 'everyone' (I mean lots of people - young and older) calling out 'Happy Birthday Robert'!! :crazy2: The 'freebies' at mealtimes were amazing, also when we wore our 'Anniversary' buttons one year.

'Moral' police don't bother me either! I 'see' so much more that should take the attention off wearing a celebration button!!

Have a great trip!

That's funny. I guess I've been missing the complainers on the other boards. Last year we went to St Pete Beach and got a condo for vacation. We had to come over to WDW for the day. Just went to DTD to shop a little. We decided we wanted to get on the buses and see the Fort, ride the boats and monorail and do a little resort hopping. My DW felt guilty because we just drove over for the day and weren't really staying at WDW. I asked a cast member if it would be ok. She asked if we were celebrating anything. I said it was actually our anniversary that day (total coincidence). She gave us "We're Celebrating" buttons and said, no one will question you now. Have a great time.

I wonder how the morality police would feel about that?

Thanks, we're going to have a great trip. :) Not really expecting anything extra with the buttons, just kind of a milestone. :goodvibes Leaving the cold weather in 6 days, can't wait for something above 30 for a high. :worship:

Someone had to cancel and were coming 3 months later and asked about the button. It really got funny reading some of the responses. :confused3 Now they are complaining about Longer park hours! :lmao: Funny thing is, when we first started planning this trip, MK park hours were 9am-10pm and EMH from 10pm-12pm. Then Disney did away with the EMH for Dec 1 (and people had a fit) so park hours were from 9am-10pm, not bad, then extended the park hours to 9am-12pm. I know I don't do new math but seems like the same hours they started with.:thumbsup2 Now MK is opening at 8am so hours are 8am-12pm and people are complaining about the MK opening at 8. Yes we have CP at 8:15am on Dec 3 and MK changed hours to 8am but it sure isn't going to ruin my trip:rotfl2: Maybe they need a little pixiedust:

When I needed to implement something that would require my staff to do it differently, I would start the staff meeting with "Change is an evil and wicked thing". While I had them laughing, I'd slip in the change.

Some people really struggle with anything being different, even if it benefits them. I know the boards are full of the incessant planners. If you give them extra hours or take away anything, their entire plan goes out the window. "6 months hard work, wasted." I can already hear it.

I'm a pretty thorough planner, but I don't schedule everything to the minute the way I've seen some do.

I read the Rumors board on here just to see what the buzz is. Some of those threads get pretty funny. The rest of the time, I'm hanging out here. It's safer that way. :)

I'm on a December WDW FB group and there have been people threatening to cancel their entire trip due to the extended park hours and not being able to get into MK early for those empty park castle pics. I just don't get it especially when there are a ton of planning websites that caution about hours being extended during December. Maybe these people should visit during another month.

I'm like you, I'm a thorough planner but my spreadsheet has a ton of open space on it. I mostly do the spreadsheet to give the DH and the kids a sense of when we have meals and FP+ booked. Plus it gives me something to do while we wait for the trip to get here!

21 more calendar days and 12 work/school days to go before we head to the airport! :cool1::cheer2:

Oh yes, I did a stupid a while ago after reading the title of a podcast thread... I jumped in. It was the great throwaway room debate. I realized there is no reasoning with anyone who is 110% convinced they're right. Unfortunately it took me a few replies on that thread.

I love the Camping thread. Like the campground, the thread is full of friendly, laid-back people.

Yep, now they are complaining about Disney building a parking garage that looks like a parking garage. :lmao::lmao: It's not themed! Fine, put the hat from HS on top would that make them happy?:confused3

Going off topic on the off topic thread. With the extra hour and opening at 7 AM does the lake experience much fog at that time in the morning? If so have they ever not run the boat because the fog is too thick? I must say it would sound fun to go to MK at that time of the morning with a slight fog hanging over the lake.

We have been there when they did not run the boat to MK b/c of the fog. It wasn't a big deal, though! We just hopped on the monorail. :)

And, I love the camping boards. I've always loved Disney, but I really felt like I found "my people" when I found the camping threads!!:lovestruc
