Married mother of two here. I've never been to Disney world and I'm going with my extended family on September 28th. What should I know about it? What restaurants in the parks do you recomend? Should a two year old go on the pirates of the caribean and or the Maelstrom? I'd be happy for any advice. I just found this place and I'm very curious.

welcome to dis... :wave2:

A 2 year old could probably take the pirates of the caribean. Malestrom I don't know, probably though.

in pirates of the carribbean you float thru a long cavern for the majority of the ride, if i remember correctly. if your child's afraid of the dark, s/he might get spooked out.

Hi! I am new to the boards too, but I have lurked here a while. There is so much info, on here a lot of these folks REALLY know Disney! I will be there at the same time as you, but I arrive the 27th, at POP. Have a great trip! :earsgirl:

1) Lots to know I would read the Unioffical Guide to WDW
2) Restaurants : I like @MK Cosmic Rays, Columbia Harbor House, The Plaza, Crystal Palace, and Tony's @Epcot I like Beirgarten, the resturant inside Mexico, Le Celliar, @AK Tusker House @MGM Hollywood and Vine (I guess)
Other faves: Chef Mickey, Beaches and Cream, Fulton's($$$$$), Earl of sandwich, and Hoop dee doo See www.allearsnet.com for the menu's and prices.
3) A 2yo should be fine on POC and Maelstrom, because they will be with you, but either is a good predictor of the other.
4) WELCOME to the DIS Good luck planning your trip :sunny:

Hi and welcome to the DIS. I'm sure this board will be able to answer all your questions. Enjoy your first trip!

Welcome to the DIS Board. Chime in at anytime and join in with everyone. It can be fun at times.

both attractions are dark and have hills....I have a 40+ friend who tried to climb out of the Malestrom boat....really!!!! it's not that scarey, just to her..there is also a troll on malestrom and "gun fire" on pirates. first time? study up before you go ( recently saw a travel show where a family went to wdw for 2 days the first time and spent most of one day by the pool, second at blizzard beach...hello, what a waste of money since they bought park passes & then did that)

 Hi! Welcome to the DIS! Hope you have a wonderful first trip to Disney! I have always taken my 2 yr olds on both POTC and Malestrom. Both can be kinda scary for a little one so it really depends on your child. You may want to ride them first to base your own opinion.
Spend lots of time reading the DISboards and you will gain a wealth of knowledge for your upcoming trip! :wave2:
