Completely Changed Vacation Plans

When I first subscribed to these forums, I was certain that in July 2007 we would vacation at Atlantis from the CC. Now that I've read about WDW and remembered how much I love it there, we are completely changing our vacation plans. We have enough points to stay nearly two weeks (yeah!!). We now have two home resorts - BCV and OKW - but have never stayed at BCV. I need some help figuring out how to book this.

Is this the best way to do it? At 11 months, I book a week at both BCV and OKW. I'd like not to have to change resorts mid-vacation, however, so how can I get the second week at BCV as well. Do I call at 7 months for additional time at BCV and hope for the best? If nothing is available, do I get on a waiting list for BCV? If I can get the second week at BCV, can I just cancel at OKW?

For those who switch resorts mid-vacation, how much of a hassle is it really? Do the CMs do the actual luggage shift so that all we have to do is pack?

This is a new experience for us, so any help will be welcome. TIA.

We have switched resorts before and DVC and Disney make it very easy. You can pack your things and they will move them for you. You can even pack your refrigerated things in bags and they will store them in the cooler. Also my husband got up very early and went to our new resort and checked in so we could go ahead and get to the parks and then we just called and got our room number later in the day. I also would rather stay at one resort, but it for sure won't spoil your vacation to have to move. You can make the two reservations and then try for BCV at the 7 month mark. That is exactly what I would do and then if you have to waitlist, you still have your reservation at OKW. Good luck and I am jealous! TWO WEEKS!!!

Thank goodness spring is about here in Illinois! Come on sunshine!

Everyone has a personal view on changing resorts. I'd rather chop an arm off than move in the middle of a vacation. In my view, you pretty much lose a day not to mention the stress of making your kids pack up all of their stuff (we have four girls).
I'm also intrigued in your change of plans. Sounds like you're starting to think of DVC as a second home. We certainly do and it's nice.

I should make the 2 reservations at 11 months and then try for the BCV at the 7 month window. You can also be waitlisted then if it is not readily available. Hopefully it will be there when you call for it the first time.

Either way have a great vacation.

:rotfl: Reading these boards about trips to WDW has gotten me sentimental about my second home. I like the idea that we can book for two weeks and find time to relax. Usually, DS and I are rushing all the time to the parks. This should give us time to really relax. Atlantis probably is beautiful, but that will have to wait. Three years is too many to go without a trip home. Thanks to all who gave me advice.

I'll book at BCV and OKW at the 11-month window and then try to get all BCV at 7-month window. If worst comes to worst, we'll switch resorts - better to switch resorts at the end of the week, then to be going back to the real world!!!
