Complete newbie to DVC

Ok- so we arent DVC members- however, after just taking our first Disney vacation I would LOVE to hear more about the DVC and renting points-

I would love to one day become a DVC member, but its just not financially feasible right now-

so- please tell me what are "points" how you use them, how many you need, where you can use them, and how to rent them

There is so much information about DVC and the explanation of points right here on these threads. Take the time and really look over them. My DH used to be so closed minded about the whole points thing because he liked the fact that he knows when he will be vacationing each year. Well, I took it upon myself to order the free DVC DVD and it explained the points to him, plus I read a lot of the posts here on these threads regarding them as well. Now he is very interested in joining (just hoping to sell our already owned non-Disney timeshare first). In fact he told me if we could sell our other time share before our September trip, he would turn around and take the money that we get and give it to Disney (he really wants to buy interest in BLT) .
