Comparing Tony's (MK) to Mama Melrose's (MGM)

Decided I'd better make some ADR's as we are traveling during the new DDP promo time not sure if we are doing the DDP or not, but still need to eat! DD loves, loves, LOVES fried calimari, and it is offered as an appetizer at both places. We have never been to either place. Has anyone eaten at both to be able to compare ambiance/food etc.? We will have 2 adults and a 12 and 16 year old. I currently made an ADR at each for the days we would be at the appropriate park.

We have been bo both Tony's and Mama Melrose's and much prefer Mamas! As far as atmosphere goes, Tony's wins by a hair. We found the service to be excellent at both, but the food is MUCH better at Mama Melrose.

After giving Tony's three chances (because we loved the ambiance), we took it off our list for good because of the food. On the other hand, we went to Mamas at the last minute on our last trip, and were very pleasantly surprised. We have ADRs there for our April trip!

I haven't been to Mam Melrose's but I have been to Tony's. It was easily the worst dining experience we've ever had. The waiter was innattentive, surly and unpleasant (the rudest man I've ever encountered in or out of WDW) and the food was really awful. We weren't expecting anything great but it was pretty bad....We were on the Premium Plan at the time, it was our dinner before MVMCP, and it was a bad start to an otherwise great evening. Unless they've made some changes since December, I would avoid eating at Tony's.

We have been to both restaurants twice, and enjoyed all four trips. With that said, in my opinion, our service was better at Tony's, and the food was better at Mama's. Everyone has their own opinions, and individual servers do factor into your experience.

I have been to both, about 3 times each. We have always had a good experience at both. Both places are nice as far as the ambiance, Tony's maybe alittle nicer. As for the food, definately Mama's is better! We have always enjoyed Tony's food and would say it is OK, but Mama's is just better! We felt the food is of a higher quality and tastier.

Thank you for the quick responses...we may go with MM simply because when at MK we tend to do more CS eating...due to hitting the rides. Good to know we won't be making too risky of a choice. What does the inside of each look like? Are Lady and the Tramp anywhere at Tony's? Iknow you can request outdoor seating at time of check-in there, but we are going in August and doubt that DH will give up the A/C for eating!

I love Mama's! Tony's doesn't hold a candle.

Tony's does have an attractive statue of Lady and the Tramp in the center of the restaurant. The restrooms are designated with Lady's picture and Tramp's picture. Their names are in the cement in front.

DD12 loves calamari also and had it at both MM and Tonys. She loved it at MM, and she can't wait to go back and have more! She didn't like it at Tonys and didn't even eat all of it.
