I am not a wimp, I am not a wimp!

Have any of you Mummy fans ventured on over to ride Expedition Everest yet?

I've asked for comparisons on the WDW resorts board but, believe it or not many of the CM's (who got to ride early) have never ridden The Mummy.:faint:

I'm not interested in debating which ride is better...only which is rougher.

I have neck & back problems & got the crap knocked out of me on The Mummy, especially when it shot up the hill & went into the dark, wild-mousey turns. Great theming but should have heeded the warnings on that one. Yep, I know, they post them for a reason - but, I'm not ready for the rocking chair yet.:teeth:

Please post any experience/comparisons. TIA

Everest doesn't have the same sharp turns as Mummy. However, it was made by a coaster manufacturer known for rough coasters, and, well...

Everest seemed more like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad to me than the Mummy.

I love both and think both are quite different from each other. The backwards part in Everest is much longer and faster than in the Mummy. And of course EE is largely outside whereas the Mummy is totally indoors. To me it's like comparing apples and oranges...both are FRUIT...but...

Now some people are comparing EE with Big Thunder Mountain. I guess I can see that - but EE is larger, faster and more interesting. (though I do still love BTM!)

I'm not worried about the drop or the speed - just the bump/jiggle/rough factor.

Unfortunately, most reports center on the big drop & "scary" Yeti.

The Mummy was problematic for me because I was unable to brace myself (& protect my neck) from upcoming turns, etc. Sorta have the same problem on Space mt...a regular coaster, I can see 'em coming & prepare. Although the Dinosaur ride gives me problems from the constant bumpiness...along w/alot of the other motion simulators.

E:E's biggest fear factor is the backwards movement, it's much longer than Mummy and dark and a bit uphill, which is an odd thing. The drop seemed along the lines of Splash but smoother. Mummy is MUCH more hurky jerky including those sharp turns. I'd say E:E is more apt to be tougher on the body for most but probably not by a whole lot.

for a Vekoma coaster, it's actually pretty smooth. (for now) the roughest part of the ride is the backwards portion, which I'm guessing is about 20 seconds long. it's a long, sweeping radius. but you know when it's going to begin, so if you need to brace your neck, you can.

I have to agree. The backward parts are the roughest. When you are going backwards uphill, it feels like it is pulling your entire body away from the direction of the car, at least to me. ROTM is a bit of a knocker, because of the sudden stops, but besides that its great. Smoothness aside, EE sucks. No real fun to it. And the CM's have ridden ROTM, they just wont tell you......afraid the rat will bite them. pirate:

I agree - I feel for a coaster, EE is actually pretty smooth. The "moment" for most is the going backwards. It starts out going slow and builds up speed. Of course you are going downhill for the beginning, then you sort of flatten out - but the REAL odd feeling part is when it goes uphill backwards.

I experienced no roughness on EE, fairly smooth for me.

No high speed launches like on Mummy. In fact, except for the forces felt while going backwards, it is not an intense ride at all.

IMO, if you can handle RotM, EE shouldn't pose a problem.

Pssst....... RotM > EE

A lot of the roughness/jerking around depends on where you sit. We rode EE 13 times in a row on the first AP preview day and experienced it in every seat possible. The back is definitely much rougher. Sit towards the middle/front and it will be better (but that's the luck of the draw, as you are assigned a seat). I was fine on the day of riding but stiff as a board the next day! I wasn't at all impressed with the drop, but then again, my idea of a "real" coaster is Hulk or Magnum XL at Cedar Point.

I'm looking forward to riding EE. I'm not a great fan of going backwards. I was fine on ROTM. Can anyone advise how long the backward portion of EE and does it go downhill?
