How does US/IOA compare to the Disney parks as far as size and open walkways.

MK is about 107 acres, IOA is 110 acres, USO is using about 1/2 of its 440 acres. CityWalk is 30 acres and Pleasure Islands is only 6.

WOW, I never realized how big these parks are. I guess I get so excited that I just don't think about how much walking we actually do. LOL

They are big, but the layout is such that the walkways are in the center and the attractions are on the perimeter. You are walking in a big circle, not different pathways like you find in WDW. You actually walk less because of this and you don't miss anything since everything is off the main walk, follow it all the way around and you will wind up where you started!

You will find that you walk less and cover more territory in a shorter time.

Just my opinion, but the walkways at US and IOA are huge compared to WDW. There are many more non-squished areas. :thumbsup2

Wear plenty of sunscreen because you have less shade while walking many times at Universal. I find I get much more sun exposure at IOA and US than at Disney. This isn't a negative...you just need to be prepared.

This made me check the size of the Disney parks. Found this:
The entire property is 47 square miles, 30000 acres. Most of it isn't developed. Magic Kingdom is 107 acres, Epcot is 300 acres, Disney MGM is 54 acres and Animal Kingdom is 600 acres.

Interesting...
