Comp Tickets

I would definitely buy them. It's your neighbor, if they dont work or there is a problem most likely the guy will just give you the money back. :thumbsup2
If the guy were upfront he would tell you that he realizes that you can't see the validity of the tickets until you get there so he would give them to you first and you would pay him after you got back. Now it would not be fishy or suspicious.

The price does need to be agreed upon in advance. You would need to plan and figure out how much the tickets would be worth to you which might be just ten dollars each to extend a 4 day vacation to a 5 day vacation. Only if the tickets did not work would you have an issue with the gentleman.

If a CM was caught charging you for comp tickets that are designed for her to give to friends or family she would be fired. So it's not luck she didn't charge you but Disney policy. She didn't want to chance getting fired ;)

Oh, I realize that. Just making a point. I just can't imagine someone selling something like that that they got free...especially to someone with a sick child. But...karma is a wonderful thing!!

Thanks for all the great input everyone.

To the people that are saying the one day would not be enough from NY, i agree. He has 10 of these tickets and I was going to buy multiple.

I actually agreed with him to give him $250 for 4 of them which I think is a decent deal. This was also with the agreement that I could email Disney to validate them. Gave me his license plate, phone, and address. So I feel somewhat confident.

To the others suggesting to wait, I get that, but my DD might need another heart surgery at any point. So I wanted to get her there while she would enjoy that young glee and when we could.

I'll let you all know how it turns out! :thumbsup2

I find this whole situation extremely suspicious... why does he have ten comp tickets to sell??

I really really really hope that this works out for you because I'm getting serious red flags from your story :(

It happens. Back in 2009 I had a problem during my check-in (we switched hotels mid-trip, by choice and the problem was with the 2nd resort). We went as a family of 4 (2 adults, 1 toddler, 1 infant). The manager was very apologetic for our inconvenience during this issue and offered to give us a bonus day or dinner. We said we already had tickets for that trip so we couldn't use it and the dining plan booked and expected it to end there. The problem had finally gotten resolved thank you very much - albeit with a lot of aggravation and quite some time wasted on a park day. Since I guess we weren't yelling about how we wanted something etc, maybe it made him feel worse? When we came back from the park that night there was an envelope in our room with 5 of these tickets per person (so a total of 20) that were good until 2020 with a note from the manager apologizing again and thanking us for being so patient. It was well beyond any compensation I expected and was happy for the pixie dust. The tickets are absolutely legit and I just used 2 on my last trip, still have 3 left.

That said, mine were from 2009 but I was still able to add to MDE and see that they're valid. There is a way to add older tickets. Also, if you call then I know IT can add it over the phone and see if it's that's a valid ticket that way too.

Not sure how well you know this person, but I'd write up a brief contract (can be 10 lines) just saying here are the barcodes for the tickets being purchased, he's vouching that they are still valid and haven't been used, and in the event that you get there and they're NOT valid he promised to give the money back.

Good luck!

Don't do it. Buy your tickets through the undercover ticket mousesavers link and be sure of what you are getting. What if you buy and don't go? You will lose a lot of money. The price of a multi day hopper ticket is about the same as what he is selling. The whole thing just does not set right with me. If something goes wrong you will still have to live next to this guy. Peace of mind is priceless.
