Commuting from PBH or RPH to parks ?

What are the methods of commuting from the hotels to the parks? I know there is a boat. Are there buses? Are there enough transportation options to accommodate all of the UO resort guests? Or is there a mad dash or long waits to get to and from the parks? Is it comparable to WDW transportation as far as convenience? It looks like PBH is quite a distance from UO, so I assume it is a long walk.

BTW, do you have a good view of the parks from PBH?

For a better view of the parks and a short walk to City Walk and the parks, stay at the Royal Pacific or the Hard Rock Hotel. Yes, all three hotels have water taxis and buses. The buses stop at all three hotels before going on to the parks. The water taxis run back and forth all day long. Sometimes they are crowded, but not always. We have stayed at the Hard Rock and the Royal Pacific and have always found it easier to just walk to the parks. We sometimes have taken the water taxi back to the RPR.

It is about a 7 minute walk from Hard Rock to Universal Studios. Add another 5 onto that to get to IOA. It is about a 12 minute walk from Royal Pacific to IOA add another 5 onto that to get to Universal.

Add another 7 or so onto Hard Rock Hotel's times to get from Portofino.

We found the boat to service to be seriously bad this trip plenty of drivers but only boat running for each resort but at times 3 drivers not as much interaction as last march

We took the boat and had no problems. You can't see the parks from PBH.

We stayed at the PBH twice last year, in June and October, and only took the boat to the parks. Never had a long wait, and the ride is always nice and relaxing.

I just returned from a stay at RPR and found the water taxis to be a longer wait and more of a hassle than just walking. Although they are a nice relaxing way to get to city walk but if you are in a hurry I suggest to just walk.

We walked over to PBH from HRH a few weeks ago to check it out - took DH and me 15 mins (at a slow strolling pace) to get between PBH and HRH - took us 5-6 mins from HRH to entrance of US - a little less than that from US entrance to IOA entrance. So for us it's a 20 min stroll from PBH to US. RPR was about 15 min walk for us to IOA entrance - unless we were really wiped out and there were no lines at the boats - we walked (allows us to eat out on vacation and come home without any extra 'baggage'!) :smooth:

We took the water taxi to and from HRH last week and we always had to wait for the boat (5-10 minutes). There were only 6 people on the boat each trip we took. Maybe at slow times of year they run less frequently? It is definitely much faster to walk from HRH but the boat is nice for a leisurely ride if you are tired of walking. :cool1:
