Committement ceremony?

Hi,

does anyone know if Disney allows commitement ceremonies at WDW? I know I can't call it a 'wedding' in 49 states but was wondering if two men wanting to get together in front of their friends and family want to commit to eachother, can they do it at Disney?

I read no, which surprised me and made me angry, so I thought this board might know?

Disney's stance is that only legal weddings with a marriage license in FL, or a vow renewal with a legal marriage certificate. They take the stance that it's not legal in FL, so no.

You could always do a private thing in a very nice room or on a balcony in your room, but you can't do anything in 'public' you risk being tossed from Disney.

I'm so sad to learn that Disney won't allow a same sex ceremony. Ironic, given how "gay" Disney is.

Oh well....give it time...the country will catch up to MA in time.

I was considering getting married in a courthouse, and then having a "wedding" (more like a vow renewal) later. All they then need is a copy of your marriage license. See if they will do it that way. Give them a call.

good luck! I think it's silly too...I mean, if you are paying the $$$ they shouldn't give a hoot what you are committing to...

I dont think that its they have a issue directly with same sex ceremonies. There basic rule is if its not legal in florida then they wont do it.

Not sure about DL though,
