This is our 5th trip in the past 12 or 13 years. The first time we stayed at the CBR. Then we tried the Dixie Landings. Then went to CSR. Last time, 2 years ago, we went back to CBR, and this year (checking in Sunday 8/13), we are once again at the CBR. We've always loved it, but wanted to try some others. After having tried the 2 others, we decided that the CBR is the one for us.

We LOVE the island theme. To us, it's like a Disney AND a tropical vacation combined. The complaints I hear are usually about the size, walking distrance and maybe the buses. We've just never been bothered by any of these issues. I whole-heartedly vote for the CBR.

(The only thing I would say is that if $ were NOT an issue, I might want to try a Deluxe hotel. Not sure that this will ever be the case.......)

i voted yes, but i'd recommend a preferred room 'cause it's a very big resort... although i do believe i read somewhere that they instituted some internal transport that they did not offer when we stayed there 5 years ago :)

ENJOY :flower:

DH and I loved it!!! It was like getting a beach vacation and Disney all in one - would suggest that if you choose this resort, that you put aside at least one day to enjoy the beaches/pools/watercraft - they are the reasons to choose this resort!

We love this resort and have stayed their twice. I wanted to try Coronado Springs last year but it was booked for the nights and the package we were doing. :(

Also, my MIL is very picky about her hotels and would ONLY stay at the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian. Two trips ago, we talked her into trying the Caribbean and guess what?? She LOVES it. She's staying there again this year and also stayed there last year!

The biggest complaint I hear is the walk if you are in a building far from the action.

Reading these responses is making me look forward to CBR!!! December won't get here fast enough! :goodvibes

CBR would be my last choice next to the all-stars. Last time we stayed there our room had an infestation of centipedes and we had to call the lobby to send an exterminator at midnight. It was a fiasco. I think the rooms are getting outdated and I would definitely pick POR or POFQ over CBR!

We really enjoyed our stay at CBR; the food court had very good food, the pool was fun, the quiet pool was quiet, the rooms were nice, and theming was so very pretty and tropical. Also the pool bar had some pretty good stuff. We have only stayed there once, but that is because I am on a quest to try all the resorts. We will go back.

This is my favorite resort - and the only reason we aren't staying there for our next trip is DH wants to mix it up...

We stayed there in 2000 and 2004. In 2000 I was a bit disappointed because the room seemed dingy. Not dirty - but old. I read in my Passporter that Disney redid the resort so in 2004 we decided to stay there again and it was WONDERFUL! The rooms are bright and airy - and are actually the largest of all the moderate resorts (340 sq ft vs. 314 sq ft). The resort is spread out, but we had a rental car in 2000 (we were in Aruba) and DH would use that to run to Old Port Royale. In 2004 we requested a room in Trinidad and our request was granted so we would walk there. I LOVE the beaches and the quiet pools were wonderful. I had no complaints and give the resort :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 !

HTH - Good luck with your decision! I was besides myself choosing between POR and POFQ ~ but the wonderful people on the DIS made that easy for me!

We stayed for the first time at CBR in March 2006 We stayed in Jamacia 45 and we had a wonderful time. We were close to the bridge so we had no problem getting anywhere, and only a short way from the bus stops. We ejoyed the environment and felt lie we were at the CB!! We are planning another trip back to CBR next year!! :thumbsup2
This is good to know because I requested Jamaica 45 for my stay next month. What you say backs up my research.

loved the place - stayed in Jamaica 46 - close to the bridge and the bus stop . Take lots of pretzels to feed the turtles!!

DH and I totally agree. We love it and we always request Trinidad South cause it's so secluded so the walk never bothers us and it's so peaceful and nice anyway...I'm a pretty harsh hotel critic so the fact that I don't have any minuses for this resort says something...we LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I want to try out other resorts but I know that DH and I will be back at CBR MANY times...

I am so happy to hear all these positive reviews. Originally we were going to stay at CSR again which we loved, but i won a very important game of rock/paper/scissors. So CBR it is!

Looks like I may be the only one, but stayed there once and never again. Way too spread out for my taste, not thrilled about walking alone across a dimly lit parking lot at night to get from the bus stop to my room, and just did not like this resort at all. Found check-in to be very disorganized and was ready to check out the same day I checked in. Won't be returning here again. Give me POFQ any day over CBR.

We stayed at CBR in 2003 and it was a really nice place. We were in one of the Jamaica buildings and we really enjoyed the walk to Port Royale (took less than 5 minutes.) We loved the quiet pool (it really was quiet) and at night we'd walk to Port Royale to watch the fireworks from Illuminations. Sitting on the beach in one of the hammocks was also a great way to relax. Our room was very clean (and I'm a bit of clean freak) and the CMs were very friendly. The food at the Port Royale was pretty much regular counter service food (we never had a really bad meal there though.)

If there was a negative I guess it would be the distance from Custom House to the buildings but since we only had to go there to check in, that wasn't a big deal at all.

We found the bus service to be really good (probably better than the bus service at the Boardwalk where we stayed in 2005.) We never found it took us long to get anywhere and the buses came very frequently.

We didn't have kids in 2003 and found that the atmosphere really nice for adults. Now that we do have kids we'd definitely go back since there was a ton of things for the kids to do (great themed main pool, play structures, turtles and birds to feed, the rentals at the marina, etc... and now they have the pirate cruise.)

You'll have a great time.

Well, we just stayed at CBR in July, and I must be honest and say I was a little disappointed! It is indeed a beautiful resort, but I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside two years prior, and hands down I thought POR was better!!!!!! The food court and store weren't very impressive to me. Make sure if you do decide to stay there you pay extra for the preferred location, because it is a lot of walking to the food court!!!!!!!!! If you have little ones coming with you it can be very tiring w/ the stroller to walk so much after a long day at the park!!!!! Plus, kids don't want to wait to eat, so in our experience, the food court was the easiest to grab a meal instead of trying to make a restaurant elsewhere, so you really want to be close to the food court!! I hope this helps a bit!!!!

We loved staying at CBR. One of the best nights we had on our trip was when we went to the beach and dh and I watched the fireworks from Epcot while our ds played on the beach. It was relaxing and beautiful. We were in Trinidad South, which I believe is the farthest from the food court/pool, but that didn't bother us. I was very quiet and peaceful. We are staying there again in March and, while I would like to try another resort out sometime, I know we will be returning to CBR again.
