As soon as i saw AKL i loved the idea and went straight out and booked our holiday.

I still love the idea but while reading the unofficial guide i came came across the approximate bus times to get to each resort. I know they are the very worst scenario time, but even the best ones didn't seem all that great. I'm not expecting to be very close to anything but i don't want to spend most of my holiday on the bus. Now I'm worried we're gonna be stuck out in the sticks!

Has anyone had any experiences of AKL buses good or bad? Are they really that bad?

Someone please put my mind at rest!!!!!

Hi!

We've stayed at AKL twice, Feb 2002 and Oct 2002. Both times we had excellent Bus service. AKL doesn't share busses with any other resort, so once you get on, your next stop is your destination. I didn't find the travel times too bad, 12 minutes to MK was the longest. But it goes by fast since the bus is air conditioned! lol... And the bus ride to AK is 5 minutes, maybe less! lol

We never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a bus at AKL and the wait at the parks was fine too... nothing longer than 15 minutes or so...

You will love AKL... I just love the smell alone (in the lobby, lol).

Despite having the feeling of being remote... AK Lodge bus routes are no longer than from any other resort. The absolute LONGEST route from AK Lodge is Downtown Disney, and even that's 15 tops. MK is 12, Epcot 9, Studios could be 8-14 depending on if it stops at Blizzard, and AK is 5.

I cringed at the estimated bus times as well and thought geez they look long. The only time, we ended up at "max" worst case was during a deluge at MGM coming out to go back to OKW. The traffic was tying things up and pushed our total travel time near the max guideline. Other than that, 7 full days of easy busing....

Also helped to teach my DS about "community"

Thanks

Stayed at the AKL for 2 weeks and the transportation was the best!! The times Tyler mentioned were exactly what we experienced and this was even over Easter break when it was beyond crowded! We never had to stand and never waited more then 10 minutes for a bus to arrive.

Have a great trip!!

We stayed there this past October and never, ever waited more then 10 minutes for a bus going anywhere. The drive times are not bad at all!!!

good busing. One night coming back from the MK, we were the only ones on the bus!

Also, there's only one pickup (at the front door) so there's no going around the resort doing lots of stops like at CBR and POR.

herc.

No problems with the bus service when we were there in May. MK and DTD did seem pretty far, but I usually just nap on the longer rides :) We were at CBR before transferring to AKL and the buses didn't take that much longer. I also thought it was nice that there was only one bus stop at AKL :)

I was at AKL June 1-5, 2003 (third stay) and I never thought we waited too long. The only time we had a small wait was early morning entry for EPCOT. Several buses came and those parks were not even open. Finally. another bus changed his sign and took us- with people having to stand- to EPCOT.

So, that is the time that I thought it was a little long.
