Better steer clear of Biergarten and the Luau too then, seating is the same way at those. I also hear that the tables at LeCellier are pretty tight, almost like eating with others. Uncomfortable and inconvenient for some? Possibly. Creepy tho? Not so sure about that.

better tack san angel inn to your list. tables are pretty close and tight, what some would consider intimate and others "creepy".

you can get a shake as a drink on the ddp, i thought it was just soda?

Adults can get a shake. I got a strawberry, and ds10 got a cookie flavored one. dd8 couldn't "legally" get one as her drink. I had planned to get one as my dessert and give it to her, but the wonderful waitress told me she could have one as dessert. She got chocolate. They were really good.

Always ask what is allowed. Some places only allowed soda or water-others let you have specialty drinks.

As far as the negative review above, we are plain food people. The burgers were wonderful, and dd loved her hotdog. And our waitress was so nice-we had no problem with service at all.

Sci Fi is my favorite restaurant at the Studios! My friends and I would go like once a week during the slow season. You definitly need ADRs now though.

<--us at scifi with our kids burgers. we are geeks.

We ate there last Thursday, the food was good, the waiter was very nice. My husband and I told the waiter we would split our meal, and they split our meal for us! I though that was very nice. Loved the place!

Hi All,

Has anyone eaten at the Sci-Fi Dine in Theater at MGM recently?? What is the food like? Can you hear the movies? General atmosphere? Do you need an ADR for this one??

Thanks for any info. you can give,

We ate there two weeks ago for the first time. We LOVED the ambiance...very creative! One of the best I've seen. Yes, you can hear the movies very well. Yes, you need an ADR.

As for the food....pretty lame, IMO. I'll return, but only to order some french fries and a milk shake or something. But you should definitely try it, if you have kids they will love it!

cool, shakes it is!

I ate their with friends this past October along with once years ago. You definitely should have an ADR. The food is pretty good and has some nice choices including chicken sandwiches, burgers, etc. The service was also good and the atmosphere is very fun. I love sitting at the car tables and watching the clips. This restaurant is a great break from the busy crowds and Florida heat.

I had the same experience. I mentioned that my 3 YO and i were going to split a burger and fries and was pleasantly surprised when the waiter brought us each our own plate.

Thanks, everyone, for the wealth of info. We did decide to make an ADR for Sci-Fi, and will ask to be steered towards the cars since that's the point, right? At least we know not to go for the food quality, but the atmosphere! How about Yak and Yeti, all? ANyone tried that lately? Need to get my ADR for that soon, if what I hear is good popcorn::

We ate there two weeks ago, and it was a good experience. We could hear the trailers (they're not really movies; just the theatrical trailers from the movies, mixed in with some "let's all go to the lobby" type old-style theater snack bar ads, plus a bit o' Walt). The food was fine, as long as you don't expect a fine dining experience. We went in expecting good shakes and standard Disney burgers, and that's what we got. The service was friendly and fun.

So, to us, it's not worth it if you're looking for great food, but it was worth doing it once for the fun experience offered there.

Our family loves the Sci-Fi! We usually have lunch and everyone finds something that they like. I love the BLT soup.

Has anyone tried the Reuben or Turkey sandwiches there? We are fairly light eaters, and I"m wondering if they are large enough to split? Also, can someone give us a clue about how big the bowls of soup are? Are we talking a cup of soup or a big bowl?? Is the chili filling and thick?

Thanks!

We ate there in July, and didn't care for it all that much. The food is not good, IMO worse than McDonalds, or dare I say it, Burger King. The menu is limited at lunch times. The movies can be heard fine.

With the bad food, the atmosphere is really great. It's unique, but in a friendly and inviting way. YES, you need an ADR!! :thumbsup2

My MIL had a Reuben, and it was pretty big. You could split it for lunch, but probably want to have the whole thing for dinner. I have no clue about the soup... sorry! :confused3

You and your family will definitely enjoy the Sci Fi restaurant. Kids really enjoy it. The clips are entertaining. The food is ok. The shakes are great. I think we have tried the turkey club and the salads. You are definitely going there for the atmosphere, not the food. But it is good. Enjoy!

We are some of those in the (probably) minority who really don't fret too much about the food and it being the best we've ever eaten. Let's face it, if we want a gourmet meal (and to pay gourmet prices) we'd leave the parks every (almost) time!! WHat we're mostly concerned with is getting a great deal, and cutting corners where we can by only ordering enough to feed us relatively well, and the food being okay. All the info. you all have given is sooooo great! Thanks so very much. I like to know what to expect, and if keeping our SCI-FI lunch bill down by splitting is do-able :) then great!

Would still love to know about what to expect regarding the sizes of the soups and chili.

Thanks again,

Maybe this will help...

Yes, the chili was filling and thick. I enjoyed the chicken sandwich A LOT. :goodvibes If you go in expecting shakes and burgers and fries, with an awesome atmosphere (and air conditioning!) you will probably be pleasantly surprised. It is one of my favorite places to eat in Disney.
