Next in were Couchy's final updates from her surprise weekend trip.


First she had breakfast this morning at the Dolphin's...

Couchy said, "This morning I had breakfast at Fresh at the Dolphin. It was was fantastic! Egg white omelet, made to order with spinach, broccoli, pepper, turkey, and cheese. Also fruit and yogurt, sausage, and the obligatory Mickey waffle! Everything was fresh and delicious. Yum!"


Note from jabead: Couchy's update caught my interest so I did a little more investigation regarding the Fresh Breakfast Buffet.

The Fresh Mediterranean Market is set up with stations.
As you visit each one, there is a list of available items.
The food is then made FRESH for you, to order.

Breakfast includes Fresh Juice and Starbucks Coffee!

From the Pantry - Variety of Pastries, Danish and Muffins, Fresh Fruits, Yogurt and Homemade Granola

Nectar Breakfast - Health conscious extracts from fresh vegetables and fruits: Detox, Antioxidant and Wheatgrass

From the Casserole - Breakfast potatoes, bacon and sausage

Hot Cereals - hot breakfast cereals including Oatmeal and Grits

Rotisserie - slow roasted meats

Eggs from the Skillet - omelets and eggs made any style to order; egg whites and egg beaters upon request

Griddle Favorites - Traditional and Specialty pancakes, waffles, and French Toast

"1coolpapa and I both had the chicken and rib combo. Rib meat was tender and fell off the bone. The chicken was a bit dry. It started to rain as we got back to the Beach Club. Thankfully dinner is at Cape May so we don't have to travel far!" ​

"Plate #1 (starting with upper left): "cheesecake", chocolate-covered strawberry, tiramisu, banana pudding tart, cannoli, chocolate-peanut butter tart."





"Plate #2 - I'm not sure what to call the fruit-topped one. It had a custard-type filling. Next is a mini-cupcake, apple pie tart, and a lemon cheescake tart."



"The desserts were all good, not fabulous.
BUT throw in the awesome view of the evening shows, and it was well worth the $!"

"We all enjoyed the samosas with a peppadew sauce, but HATED (as in either choked down or spit out) the chicken phyllo cups. Cheese, assorted hummus, crudité & crackers all good though. Not crazy about the shrimp hors de ouvre, either. It was artichokes and shrimp, and it was kind of meh."

Ellen said, "Another great perk staying AKV CL is the Sunrise Safari! Which includes a fantastic breakfast buffet afterwards at Pizzafari. The stuffed French toast is pretty sweet, but definitely worth a couple of bites and we all loved the cheese grits!"

Note from jabead: Here is some more information that I found regarding this experience. (Hopefully this is current and accurate, if not please let me know.)

Sunrise Safari Breakfast Adventure is available only to Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge guests on Sundays and Thursdays. You meet in the concierge lounge at 7:00 a.m., then departure from the lodge to Animal Kingdom is at 7:30 a.m.

Park Admission to Animal Kingdom is required.

The tour, along the Kilimanjaro Safari ride path in Animal Kingdom, lasts 30-45 minutes and includes multiple stops so that you can stand up and take pictures. Each of the animals along the way is described in great detail, since there is plenty of time.

After the Safari, you go to the Pizzafari for a breakfast buffet, which includes both standard American and African items. Each person also gets a FastPass to Kilimanjaro Safari to experience it "the regular way".

Transportation to Animal Kingdom is provided. Transportation from Animal Kingdom is on your own.

Hours: Sundays and Thursdays, starting at 7:00 a.m. The entire experience lasts about 2 hours.

Cost: Adults $65; children (3-9) $32.50 (tax not included). NOTE: Park admission NOT included. A credit card is required at the time of booking to guarantee the reservation (this number will be used as a guarantee only, as the safari is charged to your room the day of the event).

Thanks so much for maintaining this thread! I love seeing the pictures of the Sunrise Safari. We've got that booked for our upcoming trip, and it was great to see all of the food selections at breakfast! Can't wait to try that stuffed french toast and the cheese grits! Yum!
