I wonder if anyone has come across any really comfy (yet quite trendy) sandals for kids to wear. I am struggling finding some for our July trip - I did see some in a Clarks shop but they only went to a size 2. Even though she's only 8 my DD takes a size 3. Perhaps I should be looking at the adult section, but my Springers might be a bit boring for her. Comfy shoes are really important as she suffered from a bad blister last time, despite my best efforts.

I have a similar problem as my dd aged 9 takes a 4 most kids shoes this size seem to be aimed at teenagers. As she also has narrow feet sandals are a big probelm. However at a few places she was offered more sporty styles and although they didn't suit her foot shape it might help your dd.

1. Milletts had a selection of walking/sporty sandals.

2. Russel and Bromley, (a bit dearer than Clarks but not significantly), had a good selection, including mauve Timberland sandals.

3. Startright go up to bigger sizes, we have one of their own shops locally that are really quick at ordering in sizes that they do not have in stock.

4. Don't dismiss the springers there are some trendier styles this year (although you'll end up paying VAT on these as they're "adult" shoes)

I know how hard it is finding suitable shoes at this age - good luck

Thanks - I know I didn't post the original question but I was wondering what tod do for my nine year old twins in November (sizes 3 & 4). Now I've got some ideas.

Don't despair even if you can't find a pair. For the last couple of years, we have made our first day in Florida the day to go to the Virgin welcome briefing and get any extra tickets we need, a snack in Downtown Disney and then to Florida Mall and bought our DS9 a pair of sandals there. The advantage is that they stock sandals for Florida weather rather than the English sandals which you get in England for English weather. Seem to be made for comfort and durability. Also, taking it easy on the first day helps us to acclimatise.

Elephanten do a great selection, not cheap but IMHo its worth paying abit more for a pair of sandals that dont rub or give blisters. We buy our son a pair every year and he's nearly 11!!.

You can find them more in the little select shoe shoes, rather than the big chain stores.

Although I have not visited Orlando yet, I am due to visit in 12 dats (yes only 12 days, we-hey!). My DD is 9 and takes a size 5, therefore childrens sizes are not really an option. She's planning on wearing Nike Air max - a far better option than sandals IMHO
:D

I was thinking the exact same thing!
I always think that Trainers are the best and safer option for the kids (and self!!) as opposed to sandals, but i guess some people think differently.

I would never dream of making the kids wear sandals walking round the theme parks.
At DTD, BB, or TL maybe but not the parks!!!!!
There would be far too much whining everytime they stumped their toes, someone treads on them, or the sandals start to rub.

Yeah, okay, maybe they will make their feet hot and feel more sweaty, but with socks on and a good pair of trainers with shock absorpers (air bubbles or similar) in, i really do reckon they are the best!!!!

I was going to suggest Elefanten too especially if your DD has narrow feet. My DD has been wearing these every time we go to Florida and they are really comfy like springers and they go upto size 5 at least
