I'm going next month, and the weather may be too warm to wear a sneaker (plus I hate sneakers) so I'm looking for a comfortable sandal to wear instead. My current ones won't hold up to 8-12 hours of park touring per day for a week! Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! :wave2:

I just bought a pair of Keen Newport H2 Sandals:

Yes indeed, I do know they are ugly. :teeth: I got them onsale at our local REI store. They are waterproof, great sole. I will be testing them out this weekend (we're running all day, Saturday and Sunday). So far, for the time I've worn them, they've been super comfy.

DS had a pair that he wore every day to camp this summer, and loved them.

I have a pair of Teva sandals that got me through a long weekend in NYC.

I wore Merrell's my last trip and was very comfortable. I have a pair of Merrell Belluna and gardena

My DS (10) wears Keen's. They are not ugly. Now, Crocs are ugly.

To the OP: I bought some of those things that are sort of a cross between an athletic shoe (like a karate shoe) and a sandal (NOT a sneaker with a heel strap). They worked VERY well.

Tevas! I wore them last month touring WDW for nine days and my feet felt great. They are the only sandals I wear in the summer.
I even have a tan line from the outline of the shoe.

I have a pair of Rockport athletic sandals that have the support of a sneaker, but are comfy like sandals, don't need to wear socks with 'em. They are awesome and they dry out fast (as I discovered one day.., :rolleyes1 )

See below (priced at $70, but I bought mine when Rockport was having one of their 50% off everything in the store sales - they seem to do this about three to four times a year).

I found Teva's main website. They look good, but they are a bit pricey. Is there anyplace that would carry them at a discount?

I have these in baby blue and love them (and I think they're very cute). They have replaced my Tevas as the most comfortable touring shoe. A little expensive (I paid full price), but worth it. No blisters and no sore feet. The only drawback is, when you take them off, your feet really smell bad. I was stopped on more than one occasion at WDW in May with people asking me about my shoes and where they could buy them.

WHAT??? I've seen others do it! You mean that isn't comfy? :rotfl:

Those Keens look pretty cool. How much do they usually run? I have a pair of thonged shoes that are very comfy. They look kind of like a tennis shoe bottom with a flip flop looking top. I even wore them to tour Mammoth cave. Not intentionally actually, but we ended up there, and they worked out pretty well. Anyway....I am curious about those Keens. I won't be doing Crocs. Nope, no way now how. Those things be fugly. :teeth:

As you can see by my tag I LOVE KEENs!!!

I actually own 4 different styles!! I wore the h2 to wdw right out of the box! They required no breakin! I will add that they do run a little small so you may want to go a 1/2 size bigger!!

HTH!!

I used Teva Stratum sandals for our last trip in August. It was too hot for sneakers and these were perfect....no blisters or foot pain of any kind. The first day we were there, I foolishly wore my Teva Flip flops to Epcot (what was I thinking??)My heel was killing me by the end of the night. Every day after that, I wore the Stratums and no more pain!! You can find good prices on REI.com in the outlet section...I got mine for under $40.

I was in your shoes (no pun intended) last Sept. when we went to WDW. I got a pair from Lands End. They look and feel like Tevas but are only @ $30. They are the greatest sandal and not expensive at all. Look on www.landsend.com - not sure if they will still have them this late in the season

I have the sports sandals from Lands End. They are still on the web site (I think they used to have more colors though) They are really comfortable and I wear them more than my Teva's or Nike Straprunners. They do run a little wide I think.

THANK YOU for posting that they run a little big. I have less than daintily sized feet to begin with, and was taken aback when I had to get a size 10.

OK, maybe ugly is not the right word, or maybe it's because they're GIGANTIC on my feet. :rotfl: But, I do LOVE them.

Thanks everyone! I ordered a pair of Teva's through Zappo's website. The price was only about $10 less than Teva's website, but I got free shiping so it's all good. I found a nice pair that has a leather upper, so it looks more like a real sandal than a gym shoe with straps. This will be nice as we have PS's at a few nicer places and I'll still be able to wear them with nicer clothes.
