Hi there!

I know it is a little early for Mickey's Halloween party. :earboy2:

However, I am saving up to get things in pieces. What suggestions do you have for Halloween costumes? I am looking for something cute and comfortable. I am not sure of the weather in October but I am hoping not to have to cover up my costume with a big jacket. Maybe I can find a cute accessory. I was thinking about being Ariel.

Here's a little info for your suggestions.

I am 34 year old female
My daughter is 15
My husband is 28

Any costume ideas would be great! We can match or not match. I'm open!

Well, there is always Ariel's "just washed up on shore" costume. I've seen plenty of people wearing that, and you could add a little mesh sweater if you get cold. Husband could be Eric, and daughter could be Vanessa (aka Ursula), Sebastian or any other fish.

If you want something that gives the feel of ariel you could always go with a long light green maxi skirt and then some type of top that reminds you of her.

Its never too early to talk about Halloween or MNSSHP! I have been wearing my redhead costume (one i made just like my avatar) for a few years. This year dd and her friend and i are planning on going as the Sanderson sisters from Hocus pocus. I am already making all 3 costumes. We have gone about 5 times already and October can be hot and humid, but last year the weather was perfect so we wore our costumes all night (the girls were Sweeny todd and mrs lovett) We wear shorts under out costumes just in case it gets too hot. I love the idea of Disney bounding too. Those costumes are easy to put together and very comfortable.

As SamRoc said, you're more likely to be hot and sweaty than cold at a MNSSHP. A big shout out to whoever suggested makeup primer to me last year....Blech, it was hot. (You'd think I'd have expected that by now...). Anyway, if you want to do Ariel, maybe they could be Sebastian and Flounder? Not sure how "into" dressing up your husband is (mine was flat out "no" every year except one, when I got him into full-up Flynn Rider costume...), but if he's got a little sense if humor, you might convince him to wear one of those foam crab hats and some mitten claws...Flounder could be a cute striped tank dress--at 15, I know they like to still look "cute" even when in costume. Of course, if it were me, I'd want to be Ursula--tutu with some wire in some strands to make the tentacles stick out...?? Anyway, whatever you do (even if it's just t-shirts), do something--the costumes really are a big part of what makes MNSSHP so much fun. You will love it!

great idea with the hocus pocus sisters, think the most fun i had with my Elphaba costume was attempting to figure out how to transport the broom for it in my luggage. Yea makeup can be fun I was so afraid i'd sweat mine off when i did it, but sealer kept mine on the entire 10 hours then fought me for an hour and a half to finally get most of it off before i gave up.

<--Ariel's a favorite in this house ;)

On our next trip, we're going to Disneybound with me as Ariel, DH as Eric and DD as Melody (their daughter from the sequel).

If we were going for MNSSHP, we'd probably do actual costumes over Disneybounding...though, DD's Melody outfit will likely be a full up costume regardless :)

ahh, if your going for full costume and don't want one of the store bought ones, i'd check out a local seamstress. One near me has made both my costumes it's not the cheapest but allows you to have more choices with fabrics and stuff.

im so wishing to get to go to MNSSHP I'm luckily getting the chance to see disney at halloween on this years trip with a friend and her family so I'm super excited but next month I'm planning to disney bound as Peter lol, working on an actual Peter (non store bought) costume will see how that works lol

i think ariel eric and melody would be a great idea, but if you stepped away from ariel specific what about you daughter being snow white, you being the evil queen, and your husband the huntsman?! i think that would be totally cool (I am a huge fan of the villains so not anything mean when i suggest you be one!!)

As others have said, it will likely be very hot at the party, so keep that in mind when figuring out your costumes. We saw so many hot, sweaty, miserable little kids!
