Comfortable affordable flats?

Sometimes your old standby is the best! I had a new pair of shoes that I was alternating with the Mevs in November at UO, but they just weren't working for me. Grabbed my old Rocket Dogs that I'd tossed in at the last minute and wore those instead. They've never let me down. I just wish they still made that style (they're like 10 years old!), because I would buy more in a heartbeat.

I wonder if it's the same Rocket Dogs I used to have. I loved my Rocket dog flip flops so much but I wore them out. They had a pink and brown plaid piece on them. I miss them so much.

Well, there is comfy straight out of the box, and then there is comfy after 13.5 miles.... Shoes out of the box should feel good. I go to Fleet Feet, and they help me pick a good shoe that moves with my foot. After that, it's up to me to break it in, go a couple miles in them, and get my feet used to them. It is not good to automatically go long distance running, walking, or anything in a brand new shoe. So, do break in the shoes. And Sketchers are fantastic!

I have two MUST packs when it comes to shoes. My sketcher go walks and my crocs. My crocs are fabric and look more like boat shoes then the foamy ones, but still have the foam inserts. Unfortunately, these are a little difficult to find - I usually get mine at marshalls. If you can find them though, they are awesome.

I have some Croc flats but they hurt my feet...mainly the back part on my ankle because it rubs it and the friction gets uncomfortable.
Funny - I can't wear any flats except Crocs because they are the only ones that DON'T rub my ankles raw. I keep trying, with no luck. Sorry to hear they don't work for you!

One more point on the subject...with FL time of year is important. While it can rain any time of year, in rainy season it pays to wear shoes that are water tolerant!

Stinky shoes are horrible! Ugh! A number of times we've been stuck in a show or (long) attraction beside a family with rotten shoes! because their shoes got wet in the rain. The horrible odor carries very well, far better than Soarin's nice orange scent!

I vote for Sketchers. Just got a great new pair that are so comfortable for walking in the parks, and they are light. I love walking the parks in my fit-flop sandals, but the Sketchers are great when I need a more closed (to keep my toes from getting chilly) shoe.

I think it depends too on what you normally wear, I have always been a wearer of shoes with little to no arch support, cheap flip flops, converse, vans, uggs - my doctor, supports it as I have natural strong arches. I wear my Disney vans, converse or flip flops in the park. My DBFF needs to wear shoes with better support, she usually goes with sketchers.

Toms get super stinky when wet, so keep that in mind. Plus I believe the switching of the shoes is vital.

When my feet could handle it, Toms all the way. Go Walks for some reason blister me horribly like nothing else ever has. These days when I want to look nice I wear a cheap ($30) pair of dr.scholls ballet flats with all the guts ripped out and replaced with 3/4 inserts sold to me by my podiatrist. I have to have solid firm support under my arches, 90% of the time I wear custom orthotics in real athletic shoes.

I use only crocs flats in the parks - no problem rain or shine cause they're plastic. I end up regretting all other shoes though I have never tried the go walks and I am intrigued.

I wear my Tom's (pink sparkly pair) and my Teva sandals (leather and strappy- not the athletic ones). I do a lot of walking, and I've never had any problem with either pair.

I realize these are not affordable, but I feel like they are the flats I have been looking for my whole life. Tieks. They are foldable, Italian leather flats made in Beverly Hills that have a cushioned back that is non-elasticized. They ring in at $175, but omg. These are the ONLY flats I have ever worn that don't kill my feet. I waited 4 months before pulling the trigger and am so glad I did. I am getting a second pair soon. I LOVE and highly recommend them! They even have free returns!

I would die after a day in Toms at the park but I have really high arches and bad knees and need some support. I have Asics and sketchers go walks and love them both for the parks. I also have two pairs of Toms wedges and while I love them (and wear 6" heels daily) I wouldn't wear them in the parks... Although now I'm thinking about bringing my painted Little Mermaind ones to DL for our non-park days.

Do the Go Walks dry quickly if they get wet? I was planning on getting a pair of those and Teva Tirras and alternating. We're going in June so I'm sure we'll have plenty of rain and I don't want to be walking around in wet shoes for hours.
