Comfort Suites Maingate Info?

Has anyone stayed at the Comfort Suites Maingate recently?

This is the one located near the now defunct Splendid China at 7888. Irlo Bronson Hgwy. Any info would be helpful! Thanks!

I have not stayed there but I have read the reviews on Travelocity. Please check it for yourself. Travelocity also has a very rate for this hotel ($43.75) but is must be pre-paid.

yep - was there about two weeks ago. it was fine: pool is so warm its like a bath, the jacuzzi is even hotter, breakfast is great - waffles, bagels, fruit, doughnuts, cereal, toast -you could eat for about a week. rooms are huge and clean with fridge and microwave. it feels really safe (my partner goes to watch hockey a lot and ive spent many nights locked in the room with my provisions - but wandered around here quite happily) it's walking distace to loads of restaurants and a supermarket. would go back easily - only criticism, they have fake non smoking rooms (ie rooms that were smoking about 3 months ago) that still smell of smoke (to me anyway) so if this bothers you, ask for a proper non smoking room - the second one we had was no problem at all.

The Comfort Suites Maingate is a very nice hotel. We stayed there during the Christmas/New Year rush. The place was very clean (especially the bathroom), and the free continental breakfast was very good. They offer free shuttle service to the parks, but it is a very short drive to WDW if you want to take your own vehicle. If you have any more questions about the hotel, please feel free to ask.

J&D did you take the back way into WDW, Sherbath Road I believe it's called? If so how did you get there? Also, are there different room views? I asked for a top floor and non smoking but was wondering if I should ask for a particular view (pool...) Also, is the pool landscaped?

Sorry for so many questions but I would rather be safe than sorry

I can help you with those just in case: sherbeth road is definitely the way to go for animal kingdom, blizzard beach and maybe the others on the way back. Basically turn left out of teh hotel down 192, about 2 or 3 junctions down is sherberth road - (just past the wafflehouse/dunkin doughnuts on your right) . it has a large road sign for it. when you turn the road will split straight and to the left, don't take that it's black lake road (although handy if 192 is blocked!) just go straight, you'll go past the sides of a couple of motels, past a new yellow condo building, past wardrobe for animal kingdom, then eventually you'll come to a junction with lights, turn right (animal kingdom lodge is on your left) and it's all signposted from there. To return, follow signs to animal kingdom area and reverse. AS for views.... hmm, there aren't really any on the back of the property (you see some condo's and palm fronds so its not ugly but....), I'd ask for pool view if you can get it - but if you do, make sure you check re the smoking room thingy that's where our first room was and it wasn't pleasant and the only real non smoking room left was at the back - although they do have them pool facing. if you need anything else, just ask or you can also PM me.

Yes, definitely go down Sherberth. It is so much quicker than fighting the traffic on 192. There is hardly any traffic on that road. We always go that way, no matter which park we will be visiting.

We had a pool view, but it really didn't matter to us because we were always at the parks. There are palm trees around the pool.

Another thing I think you should know is that our suite seemed a little smaller than some of the other suites that we have stayed in. The room size wasn't a problem for us (and there were 4 adults), but if you are a large family looking for a suite that will give you A LOT of extra space, then you might be disappointed with this hotel. I really liked the size and shape of the bathroom. It was the cleanest hotel bathroom I've ever seen.

We really liked the hotel and would definitely stay there again.
