Comfort Stations Need Attention

We were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the comfort stations during our stay at the Fort this past week!! Showers stalls were full of sanitary napkins, a dirty diaper and candy. One shower stall had toilet paper with fecal matter on it, very disgusting because it contaminates the whole entire shower floor. After showering there for 3 nights we decided to ditch our 1400 block comfort stations and showered in the 500 station. I did report the problem from the house phone but either way Disney should be checking on the bathrooms on an hourly basis.

Also during the Chip and Dale sing along forget about going to the bathroom in the 1400 comfort station, there's a line to use it from all the attendees at the sing along. I think we should get priority over them, we paid for the our camp site and the use of that comfort station.

I'm sorry you had such a problem with the restrooms. We've been many times and we've never had any issues. I've always assumed someone did check up on them on a regular basis to keep them tidy. Maybe you showed up right after someone decided to leave all that nasty stuff around!

I've never understood why people destroy bathrooms like that!

but, we've never seen anything like that at the fort before. . . .

We had a similar problem during Christmas 06 when we stayed in the 1400 loop. This was the only time I have seen a FW bathroom in bad shape. I think the fact that the male CM that was supposed to be cleaning it mostly stood around BSing might have had a lot to do with it, this guy was working very hard not working.

We were in the 800 loop earlier in March, and while the CS was clean(didn't really look into showers though, we have one in MH), on 3 different occasions all of the soap dispensers at the sinks were empty. This may be part of the cutbacks, who knows.

I only have 73 posts(as of this post anyway), is that enough to post a non glowing review?

hmmmmmm isn't the 1400 loop under reconstruction?

The 1400 loop work was completed on 3/13/09, and the loop has been open for business since then.

On rare occasion, I have seen some disgusting conditions in the comfort stations. I don't blame the Fort management for that- I blame the inconsiderate people who left the comfort station in that condition. The problems mentioned by the OP, if they truly existed, were created by the users of the comfort station, not Fort management. What kind of person leaves a dirty diaper, used band-aid, used TP, etc., etc. in a shower stall that they know is going to be used by other people? Gross!

I almost always find the comfort stations in great condition, but if some inconsiderate slob happens to have used it in between the last cleaning and the time I enter, I really can't blame Fort management for that.

I have to agree. You can only imagine what some peoples houses look like.

I wonder though with cutbacks at Disney if the staff at FW has been reduced and the comfort stations are not getting cleaned as often.

Gah I am freaking out about this post. This is our first time camping at Fort wilderness ( 1st RV, 2nd cabins) this time we have a pop up with no bath.. I have 5 kids and absolutely need access to the showers. Sigh. I pray they are clean when we go.

Don't freak out. 99.9% of the time that we have used the comfort stations, they have been spotless. But like everywhere else, some knucklehead might cause a problem every now and then.

The comfort stations have always been spotless when we've been in them.

K Killabrew....forgot about that one!!!

You can always expect some doofus to see a clean restroom and decide to trash it. Scumbags are like that...the comfort stations were pristine on both of our last visits...exceptionally clean. And that was in the 2000 loop, where they get alot more use than the RV loops. But if the people who use them dont do their part to clean up after themselves...its a loosing battle.

This is maybe the 2nd time Ive heard a complaint about the CS's....thats pretty good considering how many people post on these boards.

I wouldn't worry about it, I think you will be fine. There is a phone at every CS and you can call and report any problems. I am sure if you called it would be taken care of.

Most people on their first post to a message board take the time to say "Hi! I'm (my name) & this is my first post." This person just jumped right in with a very distastefully worded complaint about their experience with a CS. That's one of the things that makes me go "Hmmmmmmm". In the past we've had a couple of trouble-makers that come on the board, stir up the pot, and then disappear, only to come back with a new screen name (uncannily similar to their previous ones), & right off the bat they make a troublesome post, only to disappear again.

I tend to be suspicious of newbies who jump in with negative comments and no intro's.

IMHO, the fact that you're a beagle lover makes you "okay" in my book!:thumbsup2

I agree with Deb.
I am almost always suspicious of newbies, well, some of them anyways,, particularly in this case.

Did they like trails End ??

I have never seen the CS's anything but spotless, I have seen CM's checking throughout the day.

The boards have been very helpful in the past and I have never thought of submitting a post because usually I can find an answer to any questions I have on here so therefore there is no need to post a thread. Yeah my post came off a little strong but I just want other future campers to be aware of what maybe happening in the comfort stations. I guess Disney is cutting back with their staff and help.

We have stayed at the Fort three times before this last one back in 2001 and 2004. The CS have always been clean but we were very displeased this time. We love the Fort and have never had any problems before. Our power was cut off in the loop for a few hours also but no biggie considering they are updating and adding to the Fort. We will definitely be back to the Fort and can't wait til all the updating and construction is finished.

For all you bashers on the boards, lay off the newbies.
