Comfort of flip flops in the World?

The last time I was in WDW (March '07), I wore flip flops pretty much every single day we were there. And they were just cheap, 5 dollar flip flops I bought in bulk at Target. I had them in every color to go with my outfits ;) And surprisingly, I never got any blisters.

My boyfriend wers his old Ocean Pacific flip flops everyday that we are in WDW... I always swear that he is gonna get blisters but he doesn't!:confused3 :confused3

The lack of support from flip flops would KILL my feet and my arches. It's a big no-no for me. I had planters facitis (spelled wrong) from distance running and flip flops kill me! I wear a pair of my Asics running shoes (fairly new ones-I go through about 4 pairs a year :)

the most common choice of footgear at WDW is the common flip flop. This was back in May '07. Just for grins, I measured my daily mileage at each of the four parks. The first three the average was 13 miles each day. The mac daddy was the MK and that was over 16 1/2 from 8am to being on the bus at 1030pm. I had specific walking shoes and stood on the bus home cuz each seat was taken. MY FEET HURT! even with specific walking shoes. Of course, as the planner I was responsible for lugging the backpack and backtracking/park crossing for fastpasses. But I will state that as an athlete I am in exceptional condition, so I can surmise that the whole function of the flip flop is: to show off your feet! But that's just my take on it...

Flip flops are all DD's and I ever wear at WDW. I have my Nike Celsos, which are amazingly comfortable, but I can get away with Old Navy ones if I had to. DD's mostly wear Old Navy Flip flops and can do fine. I won't wear tennis shoes if I can at all help it.

I wear all kinds of flip flops all the time and wore them all day during both our trips last year. I didn't have any problems at all. I think it depends on what you are used to. If you always wear them I think you will be fine but if you hardly ever wear them you may not find they are comfortable.

I love my NIKE flip flops, they are the ones I found with the best support. I also think it depends on if you are used to wearing them all the time. I only wear them, nothing else throughout the summer.

I swear by my J. Crew flip flops. I hate wearing socks and sneakers when I have shorts or capris on. I have a couple pairs of the elastic wedge flip flops that I rotate throughout the trip. I've never had a single blister.

I just returned from the World. I lived in my Reef flip flops the entire week and had no problem. I absolutely love them and didnt want to put shoes back on when I got home. I think flip flops are the best once you break them in. There is no better feeling! :cool1:

The most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in the park are my Columbia thongs; they are practically molded to my foot and have GREAT arch support. Plus, they come in PINK!:lovestruc I've only been able to get these from Cabelas Outfitters from their web site. In fact, I get all our travel gear for WDW from their site; all the great things for outdoor camping, fishing, etc. go great in wild and wooley park touring.:thumbsup2

Last time I wore my teva mush ( mush's?) flip flops and LOVED them! didn't have to worry about getting sneakers soaked on any othe the water rides. I hate the feeling of my feet being in socks and sneakers when it's hot. You'll love the teva's! :worship:

I am definitely not a regular flip-flop wearer. I have very bad feet and absolutely no cartilage in one foot (due to a very bad hiking injury). So, if I can do it at WDW, anyone can. A few years back, I was in the Rain Forest Cafe shop and noticed some pretty comfy looking flips. They were black and had tire tread marks on the bottom. Tried them on and they were super comfy. I ended up wearing them for a full day in AK and had no problems. The following trip, I purchased a really great brown pair that were even more comfortable.

I've become so hooked on these that I made an extra trip to AK last trip just to check if the RFC there had any left (DTD was sold out). They had them and I bought pairs for all my friends and family. They are standard issue WDW gear now. Try 'em, you won't regret it!

DW & I would NEVER go anywhere we have to walk alot without walking, cross trainers, or running shoes. DW is diabetic and has to be VERY careful about her feet. Blisters could be dangerous for her. As a result she is VERY critical of people who wear sandals/flip flops to parks--and especially of those who allow their children to do so. Of course we have never had a problem with our feet in the parks. Have fun!

I don't know if this was mentioned yet or not, but I swear by my Reefs. There are MANY different styles of them. I first found them several years ago in St. Thomas. This particular pair has very good arch support and I have not had any problems at the parks with them.

Now they are sold at many sporting good stores or online. They are a bit more $$, but for me they are worth it!:thumbsup2

REEFS!! These are my absolute favorite kind of flip-flops and have yet to find a pair that can compare. Mind you this is coming from a water polo player who has tried probably every brand of flip-flop ever.

I love most styles of Reefs, but my go to pair (oh who am I kidding I have 5 pairs of the same style) is just the plain black skinny strap, called Ginger. They have great arch support for my ex-dancer arches, and they are padded enough that my heels and the balls of my feet are supported as well. More often than not at the parks I end up in these cause they are just more comfortable than my sneakers. What can I say, I love being in flip-flops and I hate it when my feet can't "breathe".

And never once has a pair given me any sort of blister or anything of that nature. AND they are only 20 bucks. My first pair ever, which I believe had for about 8 years, died on me last year (the ball of my foot was making contact with the pavement). Not a bad 20 buck investment, IMHO!!

all day flip flop wearer here!

I alternate between Teva Mush and Privo Dulce or Bon-Bon. The Privos are pricier, but VERY supportive from the get go. No break in period to speak of. Same with the Teva Mush. VERY squishy and comfy. I've NEVER had a problem. I have to avoid all flips that have a plastic toe post. Those are blister city! Flips with the fabric toe post are a must!

I have recently discovered the Base Camp flip flop by North Face. They are VERY supportive and they have bumpy nobs all over the foot bed that massage your feet as you walk. They are GREAT!:thumbsup2 Mine were $25. There are also children's "versions" that are the same flip in smaller sizes. Those are about $17. I wear a 7 in women's and a 6 in children's the Children's Base Camp size 6 fit fine, but they were out of stock when I ordered them!

ALSO, I have worn the Old Navy flips for short amounts of time when it's REALLY pouring...b/c Teva mush take on water and Privo's are too pricey to be subjected to vast amounts of rain! (Although I've gotten them soaked before and they dried out fine!)

have fun!!!:goodvibes

I always wear flip flops when going to WDW. I alternate between the Jcrew (the ones with the cloth stripes) and reef flip flops.

Good luck! break them in!

Ugg flip flops - nothing like the ugg boots, I know a lot of people hate those. The flip flops are just regular flip flops w/a small amount of lining to prevent blisters. Love em!

Also, a good brand of regular rubber flip flops are Havaianas. I only get blisters after a really really long time in them.

Any kind of Flip-flops and Uggs boots, my two favorite shoes, I need to find a pair of these they sound comfy. Hopefully they come in pink

I've got to check those out next week. We've got an ADR at the Rain Forest Cafe in Animal Kingdom. Are they any specific brand?
