We are going down 2 days earlier than originally planned:cool1: . We're looking for simple, clean, inexpensive place with a breakfast and have it narrowed down to Fairfield Marriott Village for $74 (which is non-refundable and my dates might change...so I would be in trouble...orI can risk waiting til sure and hopefully not lose that rate) or Comfort Inn in Lake Buena Vista (Palm Pkwy) for $49 through Travelzoo-fully refundable - which I just booked anyway. I figured if Comfort Inn was badly panned I could always cancel. I have checked the obvious sites and both places get good and bad reviews.

Anybody care to offer a free opinion??? Fairfield, Comfort Inn or ....fill in the blank. Thanks in advance ! Oh, and yes, we will have our own car with us - shuttles and food not an issue.:thumbsup2

Ok to be honest I have not stayed at the Fairfield Inn but I generally do like them and I would like to stay at the Village there some time.

But I did stay at the Comfort Inn Palm Parkway a few weeks ago on the same 49 deal and it was ok but a little icky. The highway noise was terrible (although you might get that at the Fairfield too). The room was ok but worn, walkways etc were worn. At check in there were two people working and a line of people but it moved ok. I did not take advantage of the breakfast or any of the other perks. We basically checked in, went to bed, listened to the highway noise all night, and then got up and left for Disney property.

My group decided we would not stay there again.

I stayed at the comfort last year. If you don't like to sleep with noise, make sure you ask for a room facing the parking lot. It is very noisy if you are facing the highway. The breakfast was so-so. I have had better. You can upgrade to a hot breakfast if you want. The free stuff is toast, cereal, little donuts, oatmeal, some fruit. They did not have bagels which I would have preferred. The room does have microwave and little frig. It is a little worn down but can't beat the price. We are going to stay again this summer for a few nights.

I stayed at Comfort Inn LBV a few years ago and said never again.

Did you look at the Holiday Inn Express on Palm Parkway? They get very good reviews, and were refurbed about a year ago. DSis is staying there on our night out in a couple of weeks.

I think they run $109 for this time of year, but that's not bad for a nice place.

We thought about Orlando Vista Hotel a.k.a. the old Doubletree right outside the gate at Downtown Disney. It looked really nice, but we were a little afraid of the change over from Doubletree.

Good Luck!

Of those two, the Fairfield is MUCH nicer. (I have stayed at both, I will only do the Comfort Inn if I can get it for less then $50, and hopefully less then $40! LOL!) Fairfield was quieter. It's newer and I think just has better windows, plus it's farther off the interstate.

I totally agree with Traveliz. We booked 3 nights at the $49. rate, but only stayed one. Noisy, and we were on the parkingl ot side. Not a very good continental breakfast, tables not clean. Room was not the cleanest, no tissues, long line at check-in. Lots of parking right outside our door.

Well, that's too bad....I like the $49 price for Comfort Inn but I can get the $74 price at Fairfield Inn which isn't a lot more. I don't mind if it is not top notch, but I don't want to be counting the seconds until we can leave. I also would like a decent breakfast...just bagels and pastry type - nothing fancy - but not gross either ! Unfortunately, I have a friend that "might" be joining us ath the end of our vacation, and if so I would go down 2 days later and not this room at all. The Fairfield is non-refundable and I know the summer booking season has already started ! :scared: I don't want to get stuck either without a decent room or having to pay an arm and a leg for it.

Never did hear of the Holiday Inn on Palm Pkwy but will check it out now. Thanks for the suggestion!
